Tulsa Oklahoma
(July 26, 2011) – The sprint cars of the Oil Capital Racing Series will
embark on a trek to the revived “Lake Country Speedway” in Ardmore Oklahoma
this Saturday night. New promoters John and Nicky Webb took over LCS last month
and they have made some changes to the banked 3/8 mile oval. In addition to
racetrack surface and other ground improvements, one of the first orders of
business was to book a special event for the fans of LCS. With the closing
ofTri-State Speedway in Pocola
Oklahoma (which was to host OCRS on July 30th), this Saturday’s date
thus became available for an OCRS event and Lake Country Speedway signed right
up.
“John
and Nicky were interested in presenting a special event for their track and
with a date immediately available on our schedule, this became a perfect fit
for each of us”, commented series president Barry Grabel. “Very few of our race
teams have ever been to Lake Country Speedway. There are no notes from past
races, no prior track experience and nobody to get any feedback from before we
take to the track this Saturday night”, said Grabel. “This just means everyone
is on an even playing field and the racing action should be unpredictable and
exciting. OCRS is honored to present the first sprint car race at LCS under the
Webb’s leadership.”
Race
fans will get to witness some of the wildest action by some of the most
skillful drivers in the region. With eleven events contested in the 2011 race
for the Harold Leep Championship Trophy, only eleven points separate Tulsa’s
Sean McClelland from Moore’s Whit “The Gasman” Gastineau. The Gasman has
compiled five feature wins to three for McClelland. However, McClelland has
been slightly more consistent in gathering valuable championship points thus
the slight lead and McClelland is the first to admit that the eleven markers he
holds over Gastineau is hardly any breathing room at all.Add former OCRS main event winners such
as: Collinsville’s Dean Drake Jr; Stillwell’s Rafe Essary, Owasso’s Matt
Sherrill, Tulsa’s Mike Goodman, Broken Arrow’s Travis “Hollywood” Jenkins and
the current three time defending OCRS champion, Jamie Passmore of Rose Oklahoma
and you have a full field of battle tested warriors to wage combat in LCS’
arena.
The
younger race fans of Lake Country Speedway will be eligible to win one of two
bicycles being offered up by LCS at intermission. There will be one winner for
the “guys” and one for the “gals”. Winners will be selected by their general
admission ticket stubs. LCS is also holding ticket pricing at regular prices
for this special sprint car event! It’s going to be a night of great
wheel-to-wheel racing action. Bring the entire family out for a night they will
remember!
Pricing for the OCRS event is as follows:

ages 13 and up
$8
for kids 7-12 and for Sr. Citizens
Free

Pit
Passes are $25 (Free for 6 and under)
