$100,000 LoneStar Sprint Nationals Revealed!

Kilgore TX (7/20/11) by DarinShort.com. LoneStar Speedway owners Sam and Lisa Hafertepe have teamed up with DarinShort.com to bring Sprint Car fans and teams from across the country perhaps the largest Sprint Car event
in Texas state history!

A whopping $100,000 cash purse at the LoneStar Sprint Nationals will be on the line this coming October 13-15, 2011 for a Sprint Car-only show featuring two divisions: Winged 360CI and Winged 305CI Sprint Cars; held at LoneStar Speedway in Kilgore, TX.

And as impressive as the purse for this event is: grandstand tickets, pit passes and entry fees will be at very affordable prices.

Track owner Sam Hafertepe commented: “Since we purchased this track, our goal was to host a full-blown, marquee sprint car event. Now that we’ve made many of the renovations and improvements to the facility we’ve had on our “to do” list, we’re now in a position to showcase our facility to the avid race fans and sprint teams from coast to coast. We’re really excited about this event, it’s going to be a blast!”

Lisa Hafertepe adds: “Darin has a lot of great ideas and decades of promoting experience, and we enjoy working with him too; so it makes for a
perfect alliance. His recent work with events such as the Cowtown Sprint
Nationals and November Sprint Shootout were some of the biggest sprint events in the South.”

Short comments: “We could have played it ‘safe’ and started at a point that we could grow from in future years. But fans today want a “go big, or I’ll stay at home” format; so that’s what we’re going to give them. We’re hanging it all out on the line and I’m confident that that we can deliver a top-flight event that will grow, even further, in years to come. And our race format for the LoneStar Sprint Car Nationals will be unique and provide fans with wall-to-wall sprint car racing all weekend long.”

Teaser: details of the format are complete, but will not be announced until next Thursday. But let’s just say there are some “out of the box” qualifying procedures that will really make it exciting and dramatic for fans, yet very fair for drivers.

Complete event details, flyers, purse, rules, online registration/ticket sales and much more will be launched on Thursday, July 28th at www.darinshort.com/SCN.html .

Teams will want to enter as quickly as possible, as there are approximately 56 pit spaces in the primary pit area that accommodate teams with lights, PA system and close access to the track/grandstands…and the first 56 entries will receive reserved pit parking within those spaces, whether they are a 360 team or a 305 team.

Entries received after reaching the 56 mark will be parked as the track sees fit, including open trailer teams who will be pitted in the infield of the track.

There are several fan-friendly components to this event which will be announced at launch next Thursday. This event is designed for the avid Sprint Car fan – and they will not be disappointed!

TxOutlaw and smyffa,

Over the course of time, it's been a goal to format events so it is fair to both fans and teams; and assuming the weather holds together, our job as promoter will get rewarded in the end too.

Kind of like a good restaurant server: if you anticipate the customers needs well, you'll get more tips at the end of the day.

The climatology reports show average high temps of 80 and overnight lows of 62 for that period with typically low average precip.

So hopefully that week Ma Nature will be serving us all a 5-star meal and not a gas station burrito.

wink

This is great news for Texas, as us fans don't get many big events anymore.

The timing was well thought out as well!

Look forward to all the details next week.

This is exciting news. What better place to host the first of hopefully what will become the "Southern Month of Money" than Lone Star Speedway in Kilgore. With this event, The 1st Annual Lone Star Sprint Nationals, the 38th Winter Nationals at Devils Bowl, and the 24th Annual Short Track Nationals in Little Rock, October 2011 is shaping up to be a great month.
