FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: "Madman" Robert Ballou leads the MPHG - Lucas Oil # 81 all 30 laps of night three USAC Indiana Sprint Week at Lawrenceburg Speedway
Westfield, IN July 10, 2011
After qualifying tenth at Lawrenceburg Speedway, "Madman" Robert Ballou held on to finish fourth in his heat race holding on to the last transfer position. With a tough track surface to pass on, Ballou found himself in an ideal position when many top qualifiers missed the transfer.
Ballou said "We were early out to qualify and at first I was disappointed with how we qualified, fortunately for us the track went away pretty quickly in qualifying and we ended up in the lucky spot for the night. The heat race started great - made it up to third - then had to check up to avoid Justin Grant. After shuffling us back to fifth I was able to make a pass on Levi Jones at lap eight to get the transfer."
Starting on the pole for the 30 lap feature event, Ballou held off a hard charging threat from Chris Windom placing the #81 MPHG Promotions Lucas Oil car in victory lane. "I knew the car felt good and we were able to get a solid restart after each caution. Windom has been on a roll lately so I knew he would be coming for me. I'm just glad we were able to hang on and put on a good show for the fans." Ballou said.
This makes Ballou's fourth USAC National Sprint Car win. Next scheduled race will be on Wednesday, July 13 at the Terre Haute Action track for night four of Indiana Sprint Week. "I feel really good going into next week. I love Terre Haute it's one of my favorite tracks to compete at. We are typically very competitive at the big fast tracks and Terre Haute has been good to us in the past. USAC has some great things planned for the fans that night and track prep is being done by the folks from Kokomo Speedway. I expect a very exciting show and am hoping toput this car back in victory lane again on Wednesday." Ballou added.
