(Oxnard, CA 5-21-07) Saturday night May 26, at 5:30pm, Ventura Raceway will host another night of exciting open wheel dirt track racing at its Ventura County Fairgrounds facility, as we salute the 91st running of the Indy 500.c On that night we will feature our VRA 360 Sprint Cars, VRA Senior Sprints, VRA Dwarf Cars, VRA Junior Focus Midgets and IMCA Modifieds. These classes have proven to be some of the most exciting classes that we race here at Ventura.

VRA 360 Sprints return to action Saturday night after last weeks exciting event that saw visiting SCRA 360 star Davy Pombo take his first VRA Main Event win. He had to battle VRA stars Eric Severson, Rick Hendrix, Greg Taylor and visiting USAC/CRA Stars Cory Kruseman and Josh Ford to get the win. Other drivers doing well last week included Brandon Thomson, Steve Conrad and Dennis Rodriguez. Point leader Kevin Kierce had problems early in the race finishing 17th. This along with Taylor’s 6th place finish put them into a tie for the season point’s race at 1900 points. All the VRA drivers who raced last week will be back Saturday to continue the season long point’s battle. Racing so far in 2007 has been spectacular and Saturday night should be no exception.

Also on our schedule Saturday night will be our very popular VRA Senior Sprints. Last race, on May 12, Bruce Douglas took his first win of 2007 and moved into fourth place in the season point’s race that is currently lead by past champion, Wiley Miller, who finished second in the feature on May 12. Both Douglas and Miller along with many other fine drivers are expected to be here this weekend to put on another exciting night of racing in this class for over 45 year old drivers.

IMCA Modifieds are back Saturday night as well. Last race 2006 series champion Jack Parker took the 20 lap feature win over a strong field of 18 competitors. Randy McGraw drove an outstanding race coming from the rear of the field to finish second. Parker and McGraw will both be back racing against the likes of point leader Steve Smith, John Uccellini, Bill Waltman, Rick Rodarte, his son Austin Rodarte and many other fine IMCA drivers. This growing class of open wheel stock cars always put on crowd pleasing performances.

VRA Dwarf Cars are there as well to resume their point’s races in the two classes, Seniors and Pros. Point’s leaders Jim Scribellito in Pros and Ed Niedzwiecki in Seniors will be going all out to try to maintain their leads in their respective classes. Other drivers scheduled to appear in pros are Rob Anderson, Brent Stevens, Chuck Lippert and many other fine pro class drivers. In seniors, Gary Condit, Jon Prechtl, Bill VanPraag and others will be there to challenge Niedzwiecki.

Our final class for this weekend will be our VRA Junior Ford Focus Class. Last week’s winner Austin Mero will be going for two wins in a row after taking his first VRA feature victory on May 19. Point leader Austin Smith will be out to rebound after a 9th place finish last week. Smith, Dakota Kershaw, Alex Bowman and Mero are separated by a total of only 60 points in the season point’s race. Other drivers who will be here challenging for the win include Charlie Butcher, Brent Owens, Justin Kierce, Lance Butler and the rest of the drivers in this class.

Next week the USAC/CRA 410 Sprints make their first Ventura Raceway appearance of the 2007 season. All the best 410 drivers including Cory Kruseman, Rip Williams, Tony Jones, Troy Rutherford, Josh Ford, and a host of others will all be here along with our VRA Senior Sprints. This will be a special event you will not want to miss. Be sure to make your plans to be here for this event on June 2.

Pit gates open at 12 noon and front gates at 3:30pm with racing getting under way at 5:30pm. Admission for this event is $14.00 for adults, $11.00 for seniors/military/juniors, $5.00 for kids 7-12 and kids 6 and under free. For more information please call Ventura Raceway at 805-985-5433.
