ROSEVILLE’S 1ST USAC RACE IN 30 YEARS FEATURES WESTERN SPRINT CARS SATURDAY

The Lucas Oil USAC Western Sprint Car Series competes at All American Speedway in Roseville, Calif. Saturday and the event should provide a shakeup in the series standings.

The appearance of local favorite Jimmy Sills in his first USAC race in five years will spark the night’s competition. Sills will pilot the defending series championship car as regular driver Tony Hunt heads east to compete in Saturday’s PayLess “Little 500” in Anderson, Ind.

Other hopefuls at Roseville include lady driver Shauna Hogg, who picked up her initial USAC feature win on the pavement at Madera Speedway in 2003. Shauna ranks seventh in the 2007 standings.

USAC’s last race at Roseville came in 1977 when Roy Cook Jr. won a Western Midget Car feature.

San Francisco's Nick Rescino (son of the fabled San Jose super modified legend) is supposed to be at Roseville, according to Nick Sr.'s fiance on the telephone the other day.

Slight correction. Roy Cook Jr's win, was a usac national race. The western states series did not exsist in 19777.

I don't have anything to contribute. I just wanted to be the poster on the last five threads.
