TONY STEWART RACING LEADS ‘TOYOTA CHALLENGE” POINTS INTO SATURDAY’S 62ND TOYOTA “NIGHT BEFORE THE 500” AT O’REILLY RACEWAY PARK IN INDIANAPOLIS

Levi Jones and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. hope to keep Tony Stewart Racing atop the 2007 “Toyota Challenge” standings after Saturday night’s 62nd Toyota “Night Before the 500” Classic USAC National Midget race at O’Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis, Ind. Stenhouse is the most recent series winner, taking the May 12 feature at Haubstadt, Ind.

The team has a four-point lead in the “Toyota Challenge” standings with events remaining at O.R.P. Saturday and June 16. The winning team earns a $15,000 bonus from the posted $25,000 in bonuses for competing teams.

Darren Hagen of Riverside, Calif., who drives for the 2006 “Toyota Challenge” championship team of Keith Kunz Motorsports, is atop the USAC National standings, 22 ahead of defending USAC National Champion Jerry Coons Jr.

Bobby Santos Jr. won last year’s “Night Before the 500” and former race winners expected to compete Saturday include Ron Gregory, Dave Steele and Ted Hines.

Drivers will shoot for the 1-lap qualifying record of 121.219 mpg (20.373 seconds) set 10 years ago by Chris Shultz.

Saturday night’s feature event is a 50-lapper on the .686-mile paved oval. Kenneth Nichols established the 50-lap track mark of 110.516 mph in winning at O.R.P. in August of 1992.

5 Levi Jones 100
6 Cole Carter 97
7 Brad Loyet 93

Lance,

The information about Darren Hagen driving for the 2006 Toyota Challenge winning team of Keith Kunz Motorsports is incorrect, yes Darren drives for that team in the sprint car division but in the midget division he drives the RFMS #32 owned by the Fike Family.

I want to tell you one thing CRA91, Lance is never wrong. You are doomed to suffer the humiliation of checking back with your sources only to find Darren Hagen has switched to the Kunz team. Lance is never wrong. Lance knows.

Hey Bubzilla,

Is SAFER affiliated with GUBTWG? (Give Us Back The Word Gay)

I was about to start a what's happening with Damion thread and I noticed him in the midget results you posted. We need to keep on top of what Damion's up to. He's got to be considered a hometown driver figuring how many times he put the no.20 car over the Perris walls when he first got there. No Cory and Damion points chase drama this year
