From the WGMB:
Fred was injured in a bad wreck in Canada last night. Has a broken sternum & concussion. He's in the hospital still being evaluated.

Dang, bad news. Fred has certainly lived up to his 'nick' recently and has been fast everywhere for weeks it seems. A speedy recovery to one of the Great Ones!

He has been uncharacteristically fast in time trials this year and in this day and age, a good time trial lap and you are well on your way to a good night.

Wow, sorry to hear that. He could be out for a while with a cracked sternum. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Racing can be cruel, he just came off winning the Pa speedweek championship, now this. Does anyone know how it happened?

Rahmer took the white flag with a 1/2 lap lead and then got together with a lapped car.

Here is some news from a canadian who know this track very well, there were two major crashes last nite, i was'nt aware that fast Freddy was injured in his crash with a local driver who normaly runs a 360, the accident happenned when Freddy tried to overlap this car (who is way over his head in a 360).
The other major crash did happenned in time trials, i do mean a major crash as you can see by this short clip, the driver was seriously injured when coming in full blast in turn 3, the top wing just simply sheared off the car and sent it in a wild barrel roll sideways and then about 25 feet in the air to completely exit the race track and landed in the spare parking lot.
The driver's name is Jack Sodeman Jr., from the report i have, the driver is suffering from a broken leg and a very heavy concussion, there are reports of eye injury also, but not confirmed. He is still in hospital, i understand his immediate family fell into shock when they withnessed the accident, i sincerely hope that all of them are better today, they are in good hands with the local hospital and track owners taking care of them.
I must warn you these images are very shocking to see;

Last year when they ALLstar made there innaugural visit, it rained half an hour before the show, it changed the track conditions to hyper fast, they ran this half mile in the low 14 second range. After watching a radar gun showing 147 mph goin in the turns, i said to myself, these guys are nuts !!!
Than, i spoke to Freddy asking him how fast is this track compare to what you normaly run ? His answer was; ' It's f&?#n fast !!!'
Man i love this fast Freddy !
This year the speed was down a little, in the mid 15 seconds range, irronicaly, fast Freddy flipped in his heat last year.
Jake(a fan always)

That there is one figgin insane crash!!! All the best to the injured driver. The worst wrecks are often the ones where a mechanical failure occurs. Just shows how important that top wing is when cornering.

I have been a fan of sprint cars my entire 37 years and never seen anything quite like that. Utterly amazing that he even walked away!

It is always sad to see crashes like that, or to hear about people being hurt in these cars. We all accept that it can happen, but it is still sad when it does. Here is hoping for a speedy recovery for both drivers involved in these nasty accidents.

Wow that was a scary wreck. I hope for a speedy recovery to both drivers. I can't imagine how bad a cracked sternum would hurt.
