I wanted to get your opinion of USAC on asphalt. I have the opportunity to attend Friday's race and have mixed thoughts on going.

On that big of a track is a strung out snoozer.
However- it is worth going to show support for the midgets & silver crown guys.

The midgets are scary fast and quite twitchy. If you've never seen them there before, it's probably worth seeing it once. Not the best racing though, as mentioned above.

My son, two grandsons, and I went to a stockcar race there 2 years ago after my son won 4 free tickets.
Now keep in mind that we were at the far north end of the track (turn 4) near the top of the bleachers. Up to that point, I had always wanted to see the USAC sprint cars there. But in our seats that night the sprint cars would have been practically invisible in turns 1 and 2 as you could barely identify the stock cars at that distance from our seats. That turned me off on going there to see the sprints, at least in the "cheap" seats.
This track also sits in kind of a "hole" and on the night we went there wasn't a breeze of any kind. With the stock cars (burning gas of course) the exhaust fumes were so bad that we all ended up leaving before the end of the race with severe headaches and nausea. This may have just been due to the circumstances of the night, although another relative reported the same experience when he went to a stock car race there.
Anyway, you know what they say: opinions are like a--holes; everybody has one.

My family will be there.
We enjoy Iowa Speedway, not matter whats racing. It's just a good time.
Saw Silver Crown and Sprints last year, not the best race I ever saw, but not the worst either. Just don't expect to see "bullring/dirt track" kind of action. It's a different style.
