Jason Macintosh grabbed his 1st ever 360 sprint win on Satruday night 5/19 besting a 24 car field.
Petaluma Speedway, 360 sprint cars
24 cars singed in to the pits. The #48k car of Kirk Simpson scratched for the night.
Weather : cool Track was heavy and tacky for qualifying witht he bottom greasy. Same for the heats. Bottom came in during the A-Main primarily in turns 3 @4.
Qualifying was led by the #20 of Mke Henry as blistered the track in a time of 12.66 seconds. The only car in the 12 second bracket and and .46 seconds ahead of 2nd qualifier #43 Bradley Terrel who timed in at 13.12 seconds. 3rd was the #19 of Art McCarthy at 13.17, 4th Brent Dotahge at 13.20 and 5th was the 5V of Jim Van Lare at 13.23. #48v of Vermeil takes only 1 lap and the #14 of Merrel does not qualify. Both would run heats and A-Main.
The officials decided (probably because they had time to kill) to run 4 heats of 6 cars each with the 4 fastest automatically to the A and 5th and 6th lining up by time behind the 16 qualifiers. 2 7 car heats and 1 8 car heat would likely have been far more entertaining.

Kirby to the pits, but returns for the green flag. 17th starting McCarthy all the way up to 7th spot. Main is done for the night. Restart saw the 2B lose most of his nose wing in turn 3 and cars gong by slapped it against the wall, so no yellow. Macintosh found the bottom working in 3 and 4 and takes the lead from VanLare. Ringo pulls to the infield and is done and not happy. Henry up to 3rd by this time with McCarthy in tow. Geving passes Van Lare for 3rd and he falls back. Lap 6 saw McCarthy get under Henry and the leader Macintosh in heavy lapped traffic as Geving tries to cahnse him down. Henry powers by McCarthy on lap 9 and takes off after Geving. Lap 14 sees a red flag as Henry and Geving get together on the backstretch neither wanting to give an inch. Henry flips just before the entry of turn 3 and Geving goes up to the wall. The #48v off Vermeil tags Henry lying upside down and shears off his top wing. McCarthy trying to avod the wing rolls over going into 4. All drivers were OK as it always scary to see a sprint car upside down hit by another car. All are taken off the hook. Restart sees the #03 of Bailey all the way up to 4th from his 19th starting spot. On the restart the line up is #33,#2b,#72w,#03,#43,#6c, #5V,#3,#96,#83v. Mendes to the infield as race keeps going. Lap 19 sees the final caution as the #96 of Backholm flips in turn 2. McCarthy returns for the restart with a hastily prepared top wing. Terrel grabs 3rd on the restart passing the #03 of Bailley who return the favor low in 4. Van Lare passes Terrle on the final lap as Macintosh grabs the win with Neslon 2nd. and Bailey the hard charger grabs the show spot. Good sprint car show even with the multiple stoppages. Track was fast and smooth. Macintosh the 1st to utilize the botoom of 3 and 4 and it paid off nicely.
Nice to see the 72W of Dean Nelson and 83v of Kyle Larson visit. Adam McCarthy was a no show and will fall back from his current 4th in points.
