What happened say between 1990 when most NARC and San Jose shows were packed with 410's and fans and today it reminds me of quarter midget racing where we're just supporting our own show (granted a few independent fans go). Perhaps this isn't the case everywhere, just going off what I saw. If there is one (or more) problems, what are they?

I agree completely! Too many small kingdoms! I dont mind the theory of the 360's if they would have kept to their concept of offering affordable racing to those that couldnt afford to do 410 racing but know many more teams cant even afford to do 360 racing!
That is one place I can find fault with car owners! They should have never allowed the rules to vary from one group to the next!
I personally dont think there is much relationship to car counts and fan counts. I just think that the fans are just getting older. There are a lot more gray hairs in the stands and not enough kids. There is a whole generation of 20-40 year olds missing in the stands! A huge part of that in So Cal is because of the Dark Ages when Ascot closed and the CRA became a traveling show of sorts. Not many people continued to travel and their kids lost contact with the sport! Those kids that would have grown up going to the races with their parents never got that needle in the arm because they werent exposed to the sport at a young age! It truly is as simple as that out here in Southern California!

What I saw at Victorville was a lot of potential young fans in the stands. One of the things that Victorville has going for it is a lot more people that live within 10 miles of the track then Perris has. Steve has more local people to market to then Perris has. Perris has endangered pocket gophers to market to. Jim Naylor is somewhere in between those two tracks on potential fans in the nearby area.
Many of the people up in the high desert are already motorsports oriented. They have dirt bikes and other off road toys. Their were more sweet young things to watch in the stands at Victorville than I usually see at Perris. Not to offend all of my friends down at Perris, but to a man they are all gray beards.
Victorville has five mostly active sprint car racers plus Will Perkins fleet of rental racers. That kind of activity is somewhat reminiscent to what was happening at Ascot. Within a few miles of Ascot you had Mike Kirby, Verne Sweeney, Bobby Michnowicz and too many others to mention bringing cars and fans to the track.
The promotors and car owner/drivers need to partner up and help promote the sport. It can't all be on the promoters shoulders. They both have too much to lose.

Run watcha brung. This seems to be Victorville's format and it works. As Chris Economaki once said "Let em all go".

Their is also a Ron Williams that owns the #25 sprint car that Gavin Matlock drives.

Well, since the original post referenced the good 'ol days of NARC and San Jose Speedway, my guess would be Ray Williams, who fielded cars for several great shoes including Chuck Miller and Mark Kinser.

It only work's on "smaller" track's. The track itself is the draw up at VRP but we will see how the surface goes now that Aden isn't the prep guy any longer. The casual fan's up there won't know the difference right away if ever but it was aparent right away the last race with all the bump's and hole's and what not. Last year at this time everyone was talking smack on PAS car count's and Ventura is the one that has real fan and car count trouble's so far this season.

Well, if you want to get Turn4Rob and his group to your track there is only one solution. Run Focus Midgets!!! He loves them.

"Ventura is the one that has real fan and car count trouble's so far this season.
Ventura avg car count 25
CRA avg car count 28 (counting USAC 360s)
Those car counts are fine with the economy the way it is but Ventura's not having any car count problems averaging 25 cars through ten races and CRA is averaging 28 through 7 races and needs 360 help to get that 28.

To the promoter at VRP give it a break dude. You should really know your facts before you start posting messages that don't even make sense. How many races has Aden actually won in the last 2 years? He played a major roll in getting the track to the point it is now, way before you stepped into the picture.

You and sprintadict hit a nerve....the promoter pulled his post..hope he realizes ragging on Aden won't fly with the racers or knowledgable race fans...we appreciate Adensefforts to make VV work...despite thier issues, the promoter should realize without Aden and those that helped with clay...the. the track would be the sand and rock pit it was before. Personally i wish they'd work things out,

The last CRA Perris race had over 44 Sprint car's in the pit's abd Ventura only had 18 was my point. The saying is "You're only as good as your lastn chance"
