Week 4 with the 92c team at Knoxville Raceway

First off the Goodno Promotion, Harmon Autoglass of Pella and Knoxville, Reeds Automotive repair, Lazer Car Wash of Knoxville, Michael Automotive Authority, Northland Oil, Motors Inn of Knoxville, QTC, DPLM and English Creek Speedway 92C Cody Ambers was happy to have Stacy Alexander back in the pits with the team. The 92C started out in the first hot lap, qualifying session. With all of 305 out to wheel pack tells you that a later draw would be better but you have to deal with what you get.

Will qualifying did not start will for Cody's brother, Alan in the Stivers Ford & Lincoln, Graham Tier, Goff Trucking and Northland Oil 93A team. When the green came out Alan was coming out of turn 2 and was on the gas but the 12 driven by TJ Peterson did not pick up the throttle and moved up the track right into the path of the 93A and contact was made. With the contact causing a left rear to go down on the Stivers Ford & Lincoln, Graham Tier, Goff Trucking and Northland Oil 93A. After making a tire change the 93A was allowed to go out with the second session where he qualified 4th out of 22 cars.

As they restated the first qualifying session the Goodno Promotion, Harmon Autoglass of Pella and Knoxville, Reeds Automotive repair, Lazer Car Wash of Knoxville, Michael Automotive Authority, Northland Oil, Motors Inn of Knoxville, QTC, DPLM and English Creek Speedway found themselves short on power and a real tight race car qualifying 16. After going over the car to see just what the problems were the team found that a wing bolt broke and that a header gasket was blown out so that answered the questions on the poor qualifying.

As Cody lined up 6th in heat race 1 with his brother starting in the number 3 position we knew this was going be a tough heat. While the 92C was running 6th bad luck would strike for the Stivers Ford & Lincoln, Graham Tier, Goff Trucking and Northland Oil 93A as a power steering hose broke while running 2nd. On the restart the 92C got past the 55kc to finish 4th.

With qualifying being such a big part of sprint car racing the Goodno Promotion, Harmon Autoglass of Pella and Knoxville, Reeds Automotive repair, Lazer Car Wash of Knoxville, Michael Automotive Authority, Northland Oil, Motors Inn of Knoxville, QTC, DPLM and English Creek Speedway 92C would have to start 13th in the main event. With a fast smooth race track everyone was on the gas and it was very difficult to gain any positions. On lap 5 Travis Cram blew a right rear tire getting upside down bringing a red flag. After the restart Cody found some speed on the top and moved up to a 11th place finish. Although that ended the 92C string of top 10s it was a great learning curve night. The 92c team would like to congratulate the 93A team for coming back from bad luck in the heat to come from 14th to 8th in the main event.

As the Goodno Promotion, Harmon Autoglass of Pella and Knoxville, Reeds Automotive repair, Lazer Car Wash of Knoxville, Michael Automotive Authority, Northland Oil, Motors Inn of Knoxville, QTC, DPLM and English Creek Speedway 92C remains 10th in point we look forward to June 26, 2011 our next race at the famed half mile

Please come out to the pits and meet Cody and get one of his new driver cards. Have a good week and hope to see you at the races.

Dan, do you know what brand chassis Cody runs. It had a set up on the rear that I have not ever seen on a winged car. It looked like a USAC car with a wing.

I'm not saying that it wouldn't work, I've just never seen one like it.

I did not see him run Saturday, so how did it run?

The chassis is a Bob Thomson/Eagle.

To answer your question about the setup you would have to ask Stacey Alexander.

How the night went for Cody was covered in the recap above.

Dan, I am just a fan, so I do not know what will or will not work. As a fan of the USAC sprints, I notice the rear spacing. Cody seems like a nice young man, and I want him safe and competitive.

Best of luck to both of the Ambers brothers!
