Ryan Bernal was running second and pitted for a flat tire around lap 7. USAC gave him no time at all and

started the race with him sitting ready to go with a push truck behind him. Shane Golobic was the highest

finishing 360 which was suppose to get $200 and 20 gallons of fuel. After the race they informed him

since he was not a USAC member he would get nothing. Thanks USAC.

USAC CRA is another homer organization that definitely looks out for and caters to its own. Mike Spencer doesnt take the initial green flag, but because of a red flag in turn 2 on the initial start, Spencer is allowed to tag the end of the field and runs up to 3rd. Good show for the fans, but fair for the drivers that took the initial start?

The Bernal call was completely wrong, 2nd place running car at the time of the flat. Sorry Bernal and Golobic, you just arent in the inner circle with the CRA good'ol boys (rolling my eyes). Maybe next year when USAC CRA begs the local NorCal drivers to come out and help fill the field and put on a good show, drivers will remember how they were treated this year and stay away.

You obviously don't read the post by Lance Jennings regarding USAC events. IT clearly states on all the post's if 360 teams want to qualify for the $200 extra dollars and 20 gallons of gas you must become a member of USAC. Been that way all year long. There's nothing wrong with that IMO. Know your history before you go bitching again which is pretty common. Oh by the way Golobic wasn't going to run S.M. anyway tonight. Bernal we will see since he does race with the USAC 360 series. I do know USAC doesn't allow time in the pits...Kyle Larson stated that earlier this year on his facebook page(a race in Indiana) and he was really frustrated with the officials over that. I too agreed that it's a stupid rule and ruins what could be a possible great run from the back for a racer.

Trophy Cup......Best race of the year hands down!

I think most of us remember Tony Stewart's reaction to a situation like that.

Oh by the way Golobic wasn't going to run S.M. anyway tonight.

You know this because?

I know for a fact that he has no other racing committments tonight, and him going to SM was a considered possibility, before last night. Bernal, I seriously doubt they show up there tonight either.

To be eligible for the $200 cash award from USAC and 20 gallons of methanol from So-Cal Performance, the owner or driver must have a current USAC membership.

Copied from Lance's release promoting the Watsonville/Santa Maria races.,

Again....attention to details and this would not be a problem whatsoever. I'm bummed he won't be there then, but it's not stopping me from driving a little over 5 minutes to go see the USAC/CRA race tonight Smile. I love watching sprintcars at my home track(Santa Maria).

In addition to CRA catering to its own and its rule of no time to repair a car under yellow, im sure local teams will think twice about running with that series again. So there are greater problems other than attention to details.

This not a catering thing. They do it to their own ALL the time. Larson is a USAC midget racer and was given no time in the pit area. Happens all the time for the National guys as well. They have been doing this for a very long time. I feel like i'm banging my head against the wall on this one. It is just the way USAC(regional and National) works....again I do not like it whatsoever, but i have no say in the matter.

Allowing Spencer to race after missing the initial green flag of the main event isnt catering? Most associations dont allow a car to race after missing the initial green flag. That smalls like catering to its own to me, all the other stuff is just further reason why USAC and CRA blows.

BTW, I noticed you didnt answer my question about why you were so sure Golobic wasnt showing up at SM. I realize anyone can speak outta their ass. Bang your head on that one.

Randy you know I agree with a lot of what you believe and you know I'm not fond of USAC so it should come as no surprise that I am with the opposition on this one. How much would it have cost USAC to waive their rule about memberships to take care of some locals that helped fill their show? Nada. In fact their decision to stick to their guns on that one will likely cost them a HELL of a lot more than the extra memberships they would have gained if it actually made some of them feel obliged to buy them. If I were John Prentice I would have paid the highest running 360 the fuel / $200 myself that USAC was so stupid to have not and told USAC not to even consider calling me about a show next year. Then I probably would have gone car to car to any local considering towing to Santa Maria and encouraged them to spend an afternoon at the Santa Cruz Beach and Boardwalk instead. If USAC does not have a structured rule about courtesy laps they need one. How was the crowd BTW?

Steven Blakesley's press release promoting the race mentions the bonus, but nothing about a USAC membership.

i have a question. is the Western Classic Series USAC? seems to me that they blew it. Calistoga is coming up in a couple months. i hope the NorCal owners/drivers choose to show up.
