FOR
IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
“Madman” Robert Ballou passes 52 cars in four feature events in USAC Eastern
Storm, eyes points championship for USAC Eastern Storm tour.
Westfield,
IN June 4, 2011
After
starting 14th, 16th, 20th and 19th
Robert Ballou has picked up a 5th, 3rd, 8th
and 2nd place finish respectively in the USAC Eastern Storm tour
giving him the number two points position in the USAC Eastern Storm points
championship.
Living
up to the name “The Madman” Ballou has passed a combined total of 52 cars in
four feature events. Ballou has proven to be a dominant force to be reckoned
with even when starting in a less than desirable position. Ballou says, “obviously
we never like to start in the back of a feature event, however, this week we have
managed to find the best groove at each track allowing me to move forward and
finish up front.” These consistent finishes in the USAC Eastern Storm tour have
pushed Ballou to the second place points position in the Eastern Storm points
chase and also launches him to a fifth place points position in the USAC Amsoil
National Sprint Car points.
Ballou
will compete in the final night of the USAC Eastern Storm tour at the historic Port
Royal Speedway in Port Royal, PA on Saturday, June 4, 2011.Ballou says “from what we’ve heard Port Royal
is a big fast track which happens to be where we are usually the most competitive.
If you look at where I’ve done the best it’s been Eldora and Terre Haute which
are big, fast half mile tracks. If Port Royal lives up to the rumors I’m
expecting to put on a great show for the fans. I’m hoping to finish out the
week with a win and points title. It helps that the final night is a new track
for all of us which should level the playing field”
Robert
Ballou, a native of Rocklin, California, drives the #81 MPHG non wing sprint
car. Sponsors include: Lucas Oil, Triple XXX, Don Ott racing engines, Indy Race Parts,
Hinchman Racewear, Infinity Shocks, ISC Racers Tape, DMI, Butler Built Seats

Robert didn't get that "madman" nickname for nothin, he's fearless and has been known to be, to put it mildly, a little reckless. I'd say this gives him a advantage at a big fast 1/2 mile that's new to everyone. Seen him race plenty at Manzy, and the big 1/2 suited him well.

Ballou is definitely a big, fast track guy. He's got some wins at Terre Haute and Eldora as well. He's not everyone's favorite for certain reasons but he should tough to beat at Port Royal.

Notice how when we talk about non winged guy's it's more about talent and skill, and not equipment and crew chief's?

Normally Ballou is a great rim rider, however on this swing he's been passing cars on the bottom.

True...I looked at all the highlights from this series on http://jackslashmediainc.com/2011/05/31/usac-lernerville-round-one/ last night, and new thought came to mind when thinking of Balou. He's starting to mature as a talented wild ass racer, and that could mean a championships in the future. I can't even start to tell you how many I've seen settle down, and then get it done... I'm not a gambler but from what I know of Port Royal, I'll bet a dime he's up top.

Surely you don't believe equipment doesn't matter in USAC national series races? Also if you think it doesn't take skill and talent to win an outlaw show, I'm not sure your coherent. J/K
Cheers!

I agree. A good driver can take an average wingless car and take it to the front. I heard that when Bobby East won at Grandview he found the groove before everyone else and passed the top 5. He's not known for winning wingless dirt races at all.

Never said that it doesn't matter, but you know darn well that talent can take a average non winged car closer to the front than talent can take a average winged car..right?.... Now if you want a argument about the talent level at the top of the winged ranks, go fish! LOL
I'm about out of here. Heading down the mountain to support our new track here in AZ..http://www.abcmotorsports.com/wwocpressrelease5-31-11.htm ++++ http://etmotopark.com/

Wouldn't that be something if Robert Ballou won a championship, I think he would be the first openly gay driver to win a USAC championship!

Not sure where you got your information but Robert isn't gay in any way shape or form. I should know - we've been dating for four years.
Thanks
