Limited Modified Teams: Race Like A Cup Star, Starting June 23

Ft. Worth TX (6/3/11) by DarinShort.com. Area Limited Modified drivers are going to get their chance to take on asphalt racing, when the Thursday Night Summer Stampede series presented by
www.SmileysRacing.com and Hoosier Tire Southwest kicks off on June 23rd at Texas Motor Speedway.

The 10-race series will be contested on the ¼ mile asphalt track located on the tri-oval portion of Texas Motor Speedway.

There is a lot of information for the competitors contained here. Please take a few minutes to read it, as it will save you a lot of time when you arrive at the speedway:

The Limited Modifieds will be using southern sportmod rules and must use either an IMCA Hoosier 500 or H500 tire.

Speaking of tires, drivers that have been practicing are finding that even older tires that are too “used up” to work on dirt are working well on the TMS ¼ mile asphalt track. So this series could provide racers with a great use for “less-than-perfect for dirt” tires, thus, saving them a lot of money. Also, your car will stay much cleaner racing on asphalt, saving even more time and money at the car wash following the races.

A practice night will be held on Wednesday June 22nd (the night before the first Stampede event) and drivers are highly encouraged to participate. The practice will be held from 6pm-10pm. The cost is $50 per racecar and that includes driver and crew pit entry for the evening.

On June 22nd, the first 50 race teams registering (in all race divisions) will be parked in the covered Cup parking garage, which includes lights and electricity. If you choose to leave your car in the parking garage after practice, you will retain that parking space for the June 23rd opening race night. If you arrive after 50 teams have been registered, you will pit in the adjacent ‘Competitor RV’ parking area.

The Limited Modifieds will be competing with the LoneStar Legends and Bandolero’s. Click
http://lslegends.webhost4life.com/Home/ ... fault.aspx for more information on the LoneStar Legends.

ALL competitors must go through credential office (next to ticket office) to get armband and pay practice fees before coming to south pit gate tunnel to enter the infield.

You will be parked in the order that you arrive. So if you want to be parked next to someone, you must arrive together.

On race night (starting June 23rd) pit passes will cost $25 per night per person (all ages). There is a one-time driver registration fee of $40 – unless you participated in the April 15th practice night – in which you get a free registration. You must complete your driver’s registration and W9 forms in order to receive a pay card. Your pay card will be used weekly to draw in and to receive payback at the end of the night.

June 23rd, the pits/garage will open at 5pm, with hot laps at 7pm and drivers meeting at 7:30pm. Grandstands open at 6pm. After June 23rd, the pits/garage and grandstands open at 6pm nightly.

To make it easier, all of this competitor information has been summarized below in a check list format.

Yes, it's posted on the info hub listed in the PR. Here's that link:

www.darinshort.com/TNC.html

Should be a lot of fun for limited modified teams: get to run the same car, same rules, same tire (and better yet, testing has shown that your old wore out tires are actually a bit faster than new), and you get to use the Cup garages...and gain some asphalt experience.
