the A.L.M.S. big wheels said some 24 hours of Le Mans drivers would be in our race then would pack up and go to France for the 24 hours of Le Mans race. Mick Cornett said he was donating 10 dollars and is challenging all of his State Fair speedway friends to do the same. see you there?????

I know this is all just humor. and it's funny too.
You need to know this-
Cohorts of this mysterious group that wanted the speedway demolished, are still monitoring this board, and anything we do in the OkC City limits. THEY WILL PLAY DIRTY, and can affect what we have left.
I have it on good authority , certain individuals are still keeping an eye out for anything from the dirt track/oval corners of the hobby, particularly the "State Fair Speedway" crowd.
I personally am watching from time to time, other 'creative' shutdowns they are doing. It's all about their various 'get rich off the taxpayers' programs, and it includes pushing out the little guy unless he has a willingness to park cars or wait on tables.
I thought they were no longer interested in people like us, but they do look at us , here and elsewhere, now and then.

That being said-
In 5 years, todays promoter will be old news, for one of two main reasons
A- Total bust, financial blackhole to hold a 5 yr contract in OkC.
B. Total success, financial windfall was so much, a larger fish moved in and took over.
So it goes in politics there, not enough maturation inside the political infrastructure to maintain trust.
Down to the "brass tacks" of the entire deal, 'trust' is most important.

Yep, they are viewing and have always viewed. Back about ten years ago a racing friend of mine (who knew what he was talking about) was informed to tell me I "had better watch what I say." This was in reference to my disliking of then promoter Bruce Holtz and the fairboard themselves and back then I put ole OKCfan12 to shame with my thoughts and rants.
Remember back three years ago (maybe four now) when I had the phone interview setup with Cornnuts and that part of the city council has been "viewed in" ever since.
I wouldn't let them think they can intimidate us cause they can't - will won't me anyways...
