What's up with the King of the West Series? Is it unravelling out there? I have seen a few things on Facebook that are making me wonder.

Promoters are cancelling shows pretty much left and right (last week at merced, next week at Hanford and the end of the month at Petaluma) because crowds have been too small (stated to be economy driven) and the promoters dont want to risk going in the whole to cover the KOW purse, on top of several cancellations of weekly shows at these tracks due to the weather. Looks like that has lead, either directly or indirectly, to the relationship with Dean Mills coming to an end with KOW.

If you want to know how the KWS is doing come to a race or talk to someone who has. Crowds, car counts and racing have been good, I don't know who is starting these rumors of bad crowds, but that's all they are, rumors. Scott Woodhouse posted an explanation for the Hanford cancellation on the NorCal board. Hate to hear the news about Dean, I'll miss him, but we'll keep racing.

It sounds like just the media part of the series is unraveling...the crowds are there, and the Hanford promoter posted on the NorCal board about his reasons for canceling. As far as the facebook rantings...not sure I buy everything a pessimistic, bitter man says, I take it all with a grain of salt because that might be all that it's worth.

So they had a few cancellations because those tracks didn't have their shit together. Big deal, its happened to every major dirt track series.
Cheers!

I agree 100%.
You show me one racing series that hasn't EVER had a cancellation.
