SOONER SPRINT NATIONALS!

Tulsa, Oklahoma (May 30, 2011) – The “Sooner Sprint Nationals” is upon us and it will take place
this Friday night, June 3rd at the Outlaw Motor Speedway in Muskogee
Oklahoma. Featuring the sleek and exotic winged Champ Sprint cars of the Oil
Capital Racing Series, the Sooner
Sprint Nationals will offer it’s competitors a chance to compete
against the very best ‘champ sprint’ teams in the business on the 3/8 mile
semi-banked clay track. OCRS competed on the resurfaced track on May 6th
where Moore Oklahoma’s “The Gasman”, Whit Gastineau, took victory laurels.
Multiple race teams praised the racetrack that night with the Gasman
commenting, “Normally its pretty dry here and tonight the
bottom was pretty tacky.” Former OCRS champion Mike Goodman of Tulsa echoed
that comment by saying; “I don’t think I’ve seen the track any better than
this.” Track conditions were so good; the sprints were turning the fastest laps
ever made at A Feature time for an OCRS event.
Tulsa’s Sean McClelland stepped
up and snapped Gastineau’s 3 race win streak in the last OCRS outing on May 27th
with an impressive victory in his own XXX chassis while Dewey America’s Andrew
“Hell on Wheels” Deal scored his best career OCRS finish with a runner-up run
for car owner David Stephenson. Three time defending OCRS champion Jamie
Passmore has yet to collect victory hardware in 2011 and has his aim set on
making OMS the place to add another trophy to his growing collection.
Race fans can expect an exciting
night of high speed, high adrenalin, wheel to wheel racing action that will
leave a thirst to return for more of the same. In addition to OCRS sprint car
action; OMS will present “Smash-A-Poolza” at intermission. Smash-A-Poolza is a
daredevil / stunt show that can offer anything from car bowling, car jumping
and/or fire stunts and more. Come out Friday night and checkout what stunts the
Smash-A-Poolza show attempts to do this time!
Race fans in attendance will also
have an opportunity win a prize for each OCRS sprint car heat race held. Here
is how it works:
Once the OCRS teams have signed
in, each car number will be put into a drawing. The same number of fans will be
selected at random in the main grandstand to draw a number by an OCRS staff
member. If you are holding the number of the winner of an OCRS heat race, you
will win a prize designated for that race!
OMS is located just 11 miles south of Muskogee on Highway
69.
Gates open at 5:00 pm
Hot Laps start at 7:07pm
Racing begins at 7:37pm
OCRS participants are to register at the OCRS trailer
upon arrival.

PITBOARD NOTES
Goodyear Time: Beginning this Friday
night at OMS, GOODYEAR tires will be
the sole tire brand used in OCRS competition on all four corners. Previously,
OCRS teams were free to use any tires they still had in inventory from prior
seasons.
Move Over, Coming Through: A few
drivers made double digit improvements from their A Feature starting positions
last week to earn a top ten result including:
Whit Gastineau: 13th-3rd
Mike Goodman: 19th-6th
Matt Sherrell: 18th-7th
Shayla Waddell: 20th-10th
Other
Notable Movers n’ Shakers:
Danny Jennings: 12th-4th
Rafe Essary: 15th-8th
Kyle Clark: 16th-9th
Band
of Warriors: OCRS has averaged 33 cars through the first five events of the
2011 tour, which makes the Champ Sprint series one of the healthiest in the
region. With more teams preparing cars for action, the rest of the season looks
bright as well.
You
Got Beat By a Girl: 17 year old Kacee Frazier won her heat race
last week. It was her second heat race triumph in five attempts this season.
Her previous heat race win was at OMS on 5/6. She also won the pole dash race
that night. Most girls Kacee’s age are trying to figure out how to get their
Geo Metro’s above 40 mph.
Girls Can Be
Trouble: Sean McClelland has four top five finishes in
five events. Matt Sherrell and Rafe Essary have two such finishes in five
starts yet they are positioned ahead of McClelland in the point standings. Why?
Sherrell and Essary have made every main event held. McClelland failed to make
the A Feature at Oklahoma Sports Park in Ada Oklahoma by one position in the B
Feature. The final transfer spot that night was taken by 16 year old Harli
White. It was no fluke, White can
gas it up with the men with no hesitation.
Former Owner In
da House: Former OCRS series owner and sprint car
champion Kenneth Walker of Sapulpa made his 2011 debut last week but a blown
motor in his heat race ended his night early. Walker is expected to enter
future events throughout the season when not turning wrenches for his son’s
(Mickey) micro sprint.
