Thanks for coming out and stating the facts Scott, you deserve a pat on the back for that. I think the fans deserve to know the whole truth specially us Locals, so there's no assuming of reasons why.. I think i can say for a number of friends and Locals that we appreciate what you have and will accomplished at Kings and the work you guys have put in. I know promoting isn't no easy task, Hope everything pans out the way u need it too. Keep on truckin Bud !

Scott, If you want more Sprint Car Fans and Teams, Please DO NOT cut the races short. We drove 4 hr to Calistoga to see 13 of 25 laps THAT IS NOT EXCEPTABLE. Start the race earlier and/or cut the crap. The fans would rather see the drivers in their cars racing, rather that in the stands. One of the reasons we quit going to Hanford years ago, was because of the curfew problems. Sorry, just venting for many race fans. Just trying to help. Good Luck.

And they cancelled the second half of the main on Sunday.

KWS did not cancel the second half of the feature at Calistoga. It was announced at the driver's meeting that the 11 PM curfew would be strictly adhered to (per the Calistoga Fair Board). They, like many other tracks, have problems with noise complaints. The racing would end at 11 PM, not 11:01 or at the next flag. We had 50 minutes to run the 25 lap race. Just sayin'.

That's dependent on the racers getting their shit together. The series doesn't cause all the yellows and reds. When I look through your posts it seems you've been waiting for some reason, any reason really to knock this King of the West deal. In other words nobody should pay attention to your criticisms. You've decided before the races started that you were going to tear it apart every chance you get.

we can complain all we want on these message boards. as soon as racing is gone in california then what? will we start complaining that we don't have races here and who will we blame? dan? promoters? ourselves? We can bad mouth dan simpson/kws but overall we should be thankful. there would be no 410 racing this year if it wasn't for dan. what had happened with padjen and handy was a family feud. at the end of 2009 when handy was taking it over, right there at the silver dollar speedway they were yelling and screaming at each other. people saw it, it wasn't behind closed doors. i think a lot of race teams realized it needed to be taken over and dan stepped in. dan had a huge vision of 410 racing in california. he stepped up to the plate and spent his own money trying to make it sell. so far he has done a good job but the rumors are going around he's out of money. so he's trimming back. if this means letting a few people go, then this is what he needs to do to continue kws racing this season. yes he said a lot of thing at the beginning that did not happen. but dan still continued to go forward taking this big risk of keeping 410 sprint cars alive. are the promoters here to support him? yes and no from the rumors that are circulating. are the promoters jealous of what they see kws is doing? yes and no. do we see what dan is facing with promoters, daily issues, etc? no.
we all need to change and pull together and ask ourselves what can we do to help 410 sprint car racing here in california instead of bickering. what can we do to help dan continue kws? all we seem to do is criticize what he has done. can you do a better job? "you never truly know someone until you've walked a mile in his shoes." i myself have criticized some of the things i see happening with kws, but then again I say, would i want that job? My answer is NO.

Excellent post. If everyone doesn't help build up this new series you help bring it down.
Bring some new spectators with you to the next show you attend (especially kids) and explain the personalities of the sport to them. Give them the back story on different rivalries, who's a rookie, who's a gasser, who's a seasoned pro, etc, etc.. Educate them on the racing format and the differences between winged sprint cars and stock cars. Make new fans of them!
Who better to bring into the fold of sprint car racing than someone your already friends with? We need butts in the seats for our favourite form of entertainment to stay alive. Their is also a lot more electricity in the the air when the stands are full. Us die hard fans owe it to ourselves to help promote our sport.

Excellent posts by tsmmidget and Henry. Imho, Dan is the last and best chance to save winged 410 sprinters in CA. He has the vision and the wherewithall to do it and thinks "outside the box". If you think he is making money with this, you are crazy. He is doing it out of his love for the sport. Kudos to Scott Woodhouse for coming on here and explaining why he cancelled next week's race. I am not saying this because I work for Dan on the weekends, but because I, also, love this sport and want to see it fluorish.
Are we having fun yet?
