Spin it anyway you want.... the simple truth is many of the "tractor operators" (those who like to consider themselves promotors), are trying to break Dan and the series. Mr. Faria being the exception. They don't want to pay Dan's idea of a descent purse, one in particular does not want to pay a purse at all. Dan Simpson is trying to assure his racers are receiving at least enough to cover the basic weekly expenses of running a car. Seems like a pretty good plan to prevent more teams from disappearing.
Simpson has filled the promotion void with advance placement of a show car, an interactive website, weekly webcast, full-time public relations, souvenir vending, score keepers, video crew, professional announcer and qualified officials. In other words he has done the work for the tractor operators and they have still launched the torpedoes.
If you don't think KWS is the best thing for California winged racing since NARC you are not paying attention.

How are the promoters trying to break Dan? It seems like Dan is the one deciding how to spend his money. Now if the promoters don't think they can make the money they feel they need by scheduling his shows, it is up to them to decide to have them. Bad mouthing the promoters for making business decisions in their best interest is no different than someone bad mouthing Dan for trying to do things his way. Things have to be able to work for everyone.

Bummer, for KWS. Bring them back to Placerville, and add more Chico date's, they never had a problem with attendance for the 410' GSC/KWS series. What ever happened to the money from the Outlaw race back in March ?

no just put them at Santa Maria if you want a full-house. Chico was a disappointment for the Bradway JMO. SMS is rabid for 410's
Trophy Cup......Best race of the year hands down!

Not sure I understand this one. Merced and Kings cancel KWS ... but when ASCS and WoO were in town earlier this year they had decent crowds. Every KWS race this year had a packed grandstand (except Chico).

I agree... I don't understand why.. But i did hear a rumor of Woodhouse saying he lost 30g's on the WoO Rain out so maybe this is a fall out of that.. But i do know the last KWS race in Hanford the Bleachers & Grandstands were packed and the beer booths/concession were always busy busy.. Kings Speedway will lose out on a good chunk of Money on the 4th for sure even if people use there rain out WoO stubs.. Just a bad deal all around (.. Hope this isn't a sign of things to come. I do know there's Races at Plaza park on the 3rd so Can't be too bad.

I appreciate the message boards for allowing everyone to post an opinion of what is happening in Sprint Car Racing. It is also a great place to get the word out on upcoming news and current events.
With that said.....The decision to cancel had several factors, but they were not because of anything the KWS has done to me. I have a clean line of communication with Dan and all of KWS. It was plain and simple...$$$
I have had a rough start to 2011 that keeps going and judging by the type of attendance I have seen and the amount I need, not to mention increased costs for shows and my date being around graduations, I made a decision to cancel and spare myself and KWS the embarrassment of me not being able to pay them. I didn't do it to "Break Dan". I just couldn't afford it right now.
Maybe I shouldn't have responded and probably will catch nothing but grief from this, but I just want the die hard fans and the teams to know why...It isn't personal I promise.

Bushhater and 5150 have it exactly right. The recent SM show brought 18 cars, put on a great show and was promoted like nothing I've seen in years. The stands were close to full and they'll be full next time. These folks were burned by the ASCS show and it takes a couple to get them back.
BTW GSC rarely showed up with a decent count and usually made it follow the leader. The average fan didn't pick up on it, but several of the cars that came were 360s from the old Rebel Cup.Don't worry about the grief Scott, glad you posted and went on the record. We've been in the dark too long.
In case some of you missed it the economy is in the tank and this is the year it catches up to our entertainment. There are NO winged cars based around SM and some people just can't hack a $1,000 fuel bill. Sure wish somebody would think about Hanford on Friday and SM or Tulare onSat.
Watsonville on Friday and SM on Sat?

Thanks for coming out and stating the facts Scott, you deserve a pat on the back for that. I think the fans deserve to know the whole truth specially us Locals, so there's no assuming of reasons why.. I think i can say for a number of friends and Locals that we appreciate what you have and will accomplished at Kings and the work you guys have put in. I know promoting isn't no easy task, Hope everything pans out the way u need it too. Keep on truckin Bud !

So far races have been cancelled at Merced, Hanford, Placerville, Petaluma and rain outs at Chico and Calistoga. Tomorrow is June 1st. I hope for the sake of the new series that things get better. Warm weather should help.
As per Dean Mills Facebook page, Dean is no longer with KWS.

I wonder if they tried to pay TK only half of the winner's share.
Mills didn't have much good to say about Simpson. Hopefully KWS moves in the right direction, but if the right people aren't hired to bring their expertise to the events, it's going to be the same as GSC was and that's not an encouraging direction!
