Monster Energy™ Sprint Series Hits Brownstown Friday!

(Bill W) May 25 , 2011 – The Monster Energy™ Sprint Car Series embarks on the Fayette County Speedway in Brownstown, Illinois this Friday night to contest "Round 3" in their campaign! The banked ¼ mile will be the third different track to host the series presented by the Midwest Open Wheel Association, and there is a good chance we will see the third different winner.

Terry McCarl won last week's "Round 2" at the Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, Illinois in exciting fashion. A late race move getting by race-long leader, Jimmy Hurley, brought a large crowd to their feet. Hurley finished a solid second, and Brian Brown rounded out the podium finishers.

Danny Lasoski won the season opener back in April at the 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa. Kaley Gharst drove from 18th to 2nd in that one ahead of Joey Moughan.

McCarl's win has put him atop the current point standings, followed by Joey Moughan and Hurley. Korey Weyant is fourth and Jerrod Hull is fifth. Chris Urish, Jeremy Standridge, Ben Wagoner, Robbie Standridge and Jim Moughan Jr. round out the top ten.

Many of the Monster Energy™ Sprint Car Series contenders are looking forward to the challenge of invading the bullring in Brownstown! On Friday afternoon, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. meet and greet our drivers at the IGA Grocery Store in Vandalia, Illinois.

Gates open at 5 p.m. on Friday, with hot laps scheduled for 7 p.m. and racing to follow. Tickets are $15 for ages 13 and up, $5 for ages 8 to 12 with a paid adult, and kids 7 and under are FREE with a paid adult. For more information on Fayette County Speedway, visit www.FayetteCountySpeedway.com!

Danny Smith just called to say he intends to make this race after rainouts elsewhere changed his plans. He will be trying to make Fayette County the 100th different track at which he has won a feature event in the United States and Australia.

Sounds good. Thanks for the quick response.

I've been able to make your first two events and have been nothing but impressed. Hopefully you guys will eventually get a night of racing without the threat of rain or a rough track surface. I'm looking forward to tomorrow night. If you guys can get it, in it should be fast.

We appreciate your support. As one of our regular fans, please don't hesitate to visit with anyone you see in a MOWA shirt at our events to talk about how we can make our shows even better.

While not one of our biggest purses of the year, we are looking forward to putting winged sprints back on a track that hasn't seen them for ages - and that was one of our goals with the series. We will be putting on our normal grandstand show with giveaways, interviews etc. This is a tough weekend for promoters in our area with graduations, Indy, trips and more - but Fayette County was one of the first to get on board with our series and we hope we can make the event successful for them. Thanks again for your support.

From what I have seen so far, I definitly think you guys have your bases covered. When you have the likes of the Dude, T-Mac and Brian Brown applauding your efforts then I think you are doing something right.

I look forward to seeing you guys tomorrow night.

I'm not trying to be a downer, but $200 to start?? I have no problem with $1500 to win as long as the bottom gets more then $200 to start. $200 doesn't buy the tires normally for these guy's along with all other expenses. Just saying and not trying to be a jerk, because I would love to see another series flourish in the 410 market.

Trophy Cup......Best race of the year hands down!

We don't disagree that higher start money would be beneficial for the majority of our participants. As we move forward, addressing it will be one of our higher priorities.

It's no secret that fans pay purses. The more fans we can put in the grandstands, the more dollars our drivers can collect at the payout window.

This race didn't exist last year.In fact, 6 of the 10 tracks on our current schedule didn't host a 410 winged sprint car race last year. If we go into each track and have a successful event for the track, we will likely be invited back. If we go in and have an extremely successful event, we will be invited back with a higher payout. With the continued support of people like Whyld92, we hope to do the later.
