After heavy rains hit Fremont Speedway around 4:30 p.m., the track crew went to work. At one point track promoter Rich Farmer called the drivers together and asked if they wanted to race or if he should throw in the towel...the vast majority said "let's try." At 10:20 p.m. the first heat race got underway and just three hours later the three divisions - 410 and 305 sprints and dirt trucks - were done. Byron Reed held off Bryan Sebetto and a closing Tim Shaffer (up from 16th starting spot) to get the 410 win.
D.J. Foos claimed the 305 sprint victory and Steve Endicott won the trucks.
Just as the final checkered flew, it began to rain.
