Cody Morris, Tulsa, OK (5-10-2011) - After an inaugural 2010 season of exhibition racing, the Lucas Oil ASCS2 EcoTec Midgets will begin their battle for the inaugural Lucas Oil ASCS2 Championship with a season opening double dose of action straddling the Interstate 44 corridor.

The 2011 Lucas Oil ASCS2 Midget title chase will ignite with a Midget debut at Oklahoma City's I-44 Speedway. A high banked, ultra fast 1/6th mile oval that played host to its fellow mini sprint counterparts twice already in the 2011 racing season, this Friday's Lucas Oil ASCS2 Midget debut will also mark the first Midget competition ever held at I-44 Speedway.

The following night will see the Lucas Oil ASCS2 Midgets venture southwest along the H.E. Bailey Turnpike for a Saturday night duel on Lawton Speedway's historic red clay. The event will feature a first in ASCS history, with both the ASCS Sooner Region winged sprints and the Lucas Oil ASCS2 Midgets on the same event card.

The upcoming weekend of Lucas Oil ASCS2 Midget action will mark the first two rounds of an 11 round fight for the Lucas Oil ASCS2 Midget Championship.

While Friday night's season opener at I-44 Speedway marks the inaugural visit for the the Lucas Oil ASCS2 Midgets, Saturday night's venture into Lawton Speedway will mark the third stop in Lucas Oil ASCS2 Midget history, with Collinsville, Oklahoma native Tyler Thomas sweeping 2010 Midget action at the famed southwest Oklahoma oval.

In a memorable evening of open wheel action at Cowtown Speedway late in the 2010 season, Sapulpa, Oklahoma's Blake Hahn earned his first Lucas Oil ASCS2 Midget victory before rocketing off to a 2010 Lucas Oil ASCS2 Outlaw Championship later in the evening. With inaugural Lucas Oil ASCS2 Midget Championship hopes in his mind, Saturday's Lawton event will also see the beginning of Blake Hahn's sprint car career as he eyes his ASCS sprint car debut.

Keeping it in the family, Glenpool, Oklahoma native and cousin Matt Ward will begin his 2011 Lucas Oil ASCS2 Midget push at I-44 and Lawton with hopes to double his Lucas Oil ASCS2 Midget win total after a Creek County Speedway triumph in 2010.

Still keeping it in the family, Tulsa's Mike Ward will enter the Turnpike double as the most recent winner of Ecotec Midget competition after an electrifying last lap pass of sprint car veteran Tim Crawley at the 26th Annual Tulsa Shootout on New Year's Day.

Talent in the Lucas Oil ASCS2 Midget field further deepens with Bixby, Oklahoma's Kevin Bayer expected for the weekend double. A winner of the first ever EcoTec Midget event at the 25th Tulsa Shootout as well as 2009 Lucas Oil ASCS2 Outlaw Champion, Bayer will join car owner and teammate Eric Fenton in Midget assault's of I-44 Speedway and Lawton Speedway.

2004 ASCS Sooner Region Champion and Tuttle, Oklahoma native Andy Shouse will likely join Blake Hahn in taking on both night's of Midget action, as well as double duty Saturday at Lawton with the ASCS Sooner Region sprints.

Several more regional open wheel talents are expected to be on hand for the weekend's Lucas Oil ASCS2 Midget action, including I-44 Speedway promoter Kirk Berkley, El Reno, Oklahoma's Blake Dewberry, and Broken Arrow, Oklahoma native Colton Brewer.

The 2011 Lucas Oil ASCS2 Midget campaign kicks off Friday, May 13th at I-44 Speedway, before heading southwest for a Saturday, May 14th stop at Lawton Speedway.

Cody, about how many midgets can we expect? Judgeing by your story I would guess around 12? Should be very interesting to see those cars on that track. May have to make the trip to I-44 for that one. $15 bucks a person may keep us away. Family of 5 now.
