Awesome video,
Thanks for sharing it. I think in the old days Sammy had to many things on his mind. He drove his own hauler to the track, had to run his own team/business side of racing....and the constant pressure of the competition and he probably thought about that alot and made it hard for him to talk to the people in casual conversations or interviews.
I think in his older age, he can concentrate on just his driving and doing interviews for the fans and for publicity. A lot of the other things in racing I think he has other people handling that for him.
I'm sure racing is fun for him now and even if it wasnt' who cares. He's much happier person and he's great for racing and it shows. That to way, go Sammy.
Sincerely,
Larry Otani and God Bless you all !

I am still a youngster (kinda) but i've been a big fan of his since i was old enough to follow these guys and you are right on the money when it comes to his work load and lightening of personality over the last few years. I met him a few times at Knoxville when he was running the TMC car, he was just a short person. Not that he was an asshole, just spread too thin to enjoy what he was doing for real. I was at Knoxville again when he first filled in for McCarl in the Big Game car and he came from last to first in a weekly show, took my boys down to meet him and he was just cool! He bs'd for a minute, took pictures with the kids and had a genuine smile on his face the whole time, you can say what you will about the man but nobody can take away what he has done. In my opinion he is what they refer to as a living legend...

Very good interview. Not many can complain about that one. Other than the fact he didn't do back flips, kiss everybody, and stand there with a great big smile like a tonto, I enjoyed that interview!

But someone will because of something he did 25 years ago...... Sammy has definitely given an amazing amount of memories and stories to talk about for years to come. Just look at his career in the last year alone.
Just think of the sport without him....without Steve Kinser, without Doug Wolfgang. Would be like basketball without Michael Jordan. Do they still play basketball?
