CONCORD, N.C. – "Winged Nation" returns to MotorRacingNetwork.com this afternoon with a full hour of the best sprint car talk in the country. Joining co-hosts Kendra Jacobs and Steve Post this week are Ralph Capitani, Tim Shaffer and Erin (Crocker) Evernham.
Capitani is the Director of Racing at Knoxville (IA) Raceway, a post he has held since 1978. Under his leadership not only has the track prospered, but so had the marquis event held at the speedway the Knoxville Nationals. Weekly racing begins Saturday night at Knoxville and Capitani will preview an exciting season at the historic speedway.
Tim Shaffer is the reigning O'Reilly All-Star Series of Champions Champ, following an amazing 2010 season that included a win in the Knoxville Nationals. Shaffer has been racing in sanctioned and non-sanctioned races this season scoring a couple of wins including one at Freemont Speedway in Ohio on Saturday night. This weekend the All-Stars head east to Pennsylvania for a pair of showdowns with the Pennsylvania Posse – Friday night at Williams Grove and Saturday at Port Royal.
Evernham is one of the top ladies in sprint car racing picking up a World of Outlaws victory a few years back and making the cut into the Knoxville Nationals a couple of times. Crocker has races a limited schedule over the past year and a half, and recently won in a United Sprint Car Series race in Gastonia, N.C.
