Good show tonight as there were delays for light rain. Promoters done an excellent job of getting show in. Garst came from 18 to second and had a chance on last lap. Didn't like the lapped cars on the restart because the leader had a big lead before the second place car got to the cone. The Dude was lucky because when they caught him something would happen. For their first show they did a good job just needs a little tweaking.

I agree, good show. Lasoski was about the 4th fastest car but got the win. Madsen had him covered before he dropped out and I don't see him holding off Craig either. No doubt Garst was faster the way he ran the Dude down at the end. Still a good win for Danny and a good first outing for MOWA.

How about the Dude's gas her up as your entering turn 3 on the starts? He was full throttle before he was even in the middle of 3 and 4 and had a 6 car lead right away. Who cares who he is, give someone a black flag! Otherwise, the show was great. I'm glad I made the 7 hour trip!

I agree Danny jumped the start big time. It is his job to set the pace, but that was ridiculous. It wouldn't have taken Gharst near as long to catch him if he wouldn't have had to start a half a lap down on every restart. Madsen was the class of the field for the night, but Gharst was a rocket. Bill W. we have been told that Kerry just had a flat tire, but had a lot of caution laps to come back out, was there something else wrong?
I'm not going to complain any more about it though, the flagman did a great job of keeping the races moving. Knoxville would have canceled that show at noon. Burlington used everything in their power to give us a great show for a pretty cheap price. Not to mention they only had about five push trucks to keep the track ran in. I really hope the next promoter for Knoxville was in attendance. If he/she took notes from that track there will be nights when Knoxville won't be able to quit selling tickets.

Sounds like the Dude put a spanking on the field and the yokels don't like it. Typical.

I agree. Not many promoters in the country would have got this show in. The promoters worked day and night getting the track and the pits ready. Kerry and Craig were fast and coming, but you know what they say, to finish 1st, you must first finish. Lasoski earned his good starting spot, but Kaley Gharst in the 14P was the class of the field in the feature. That kid drove the wheels off the car from 18th to 2nd. One more lap or if the lap car was not in Kaley's line on the last lap in 1 and 2 I think Kaley would have blown past the Dude. Great show and worth the money. 21X Moughan was impressive too.

MOWA and 34 Raceway did an exemplary job of not only getting the show in, but making sure the track was good enough to give us a fantastic one! Excellent race, and definitely worth the cold drizzle that plagued us most of the night!

Sounds like? So you didn't go but you know more about what happened than people that did?
Sounds like your not very smart. I'm probably wrong too.

Thats amazing. You know so much about it and werent even there.Lasoski coulndnt work traffic to save his life.Madsen was bad fast too bad he and Dollansky got together.Only thing that saved lasoski from Gharst was that big hole between 1 and 2.Man what a bonzia move kaley made through it on the last lap! Great job to the track for getting the show in.I was there with a late model and we loaded her up 3 times!Dont like the lapped cars in the way but theyll figure it out.Great racing.Sometimes the fastest guy doesnt always win.

I noticed the same thing .....fans around me were squawking he was jumping and I saw the green flash and he would go. No big Lasoski fan .....but what is right is right ....green is on ....time to go ...or stack the field up and perhaps crash the guys behind the leader. Damn this weather sucks ... hopefully is is going to be a nicer weekend coming .....

thank you i was hoping someone else saw it and i was not just imagining things... does anyone know if this is a MOWA thing/rule or was it a one time thing because starting in 3 is an interesting twist/revert back to the past?

10. RESTARTS
MOWA uses a restart cone on the front-chute or back-chute depending on the track(this will be decided and you
will be notified at the drivers meeting, located about 1 to 2 car widths from the outside barrier of the track. The
flagman will signal 1 lap to the green. As the leader exits the fourth turn on that lap, he may fully accelerate
anywhere between the turn 4 start line and the restart cone(front –chute) or the exit of turn2 and cone on backchute.
NO ON AND OFF THE GAS TACTICS BY THE LEADER WILL BE TOLERATED AND MAY
RESULT IN A PENALTY. The leader and the entire field MUST pass between the cone and the outside of the
track. NO PASSING IS PERMITTED PRIOR TO PASSING THE CONE. The field needs to be tight NOSE TO
TAIL and not allow gaps between cars. Hitting the cone or going on the wrong side of it will result in a penalty,
however, committing this penalty won’t necessarily result in a false start. If the leader commits this penalty a
complete restart will be called for and he will be penalized two positions. If a car other than the leader should
either hit the cone or pass beneath it, a two-position penalty will be instituted (if we don’t go yellow) when the
next yellow or red interrupts racing, or at the conclusion if no interruptions.

going fast enough." -- Mario Andretti

Why wasn't Donnie Beechler racing? I thought he was supposed to be running this whole tour?

ILracer83, are you involved with the 83 Korey Weyant is driving? That car has been around a long time and seems to be a good ride.

The Midwest Open Wheel Association would like to thank all of the fans and participants who attended our inaugural race last night at 34 Raceway in West Burlington Iowa. The number and quality of cars and drivers was exceptional and the grandstands looked more than respectable given the weather conditions leading up to and during the event. We sincerely hope that each and every fan in attendance had a great time and received much more entertainment value than the cost of their ticket.
We realize that some circumstances fell into place in order for this show to be the success it turned out to be. Weather issues at other tracks brought in some additional name brand drivers that weren't on our original list and we were fortunate to have the experience and dedication of the 34 Raceway staff at our side as we made our maiden attempt at running a racing series.
We value the feedback of our fans and participants. Although that feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, we will to pay close attention to comments and suggestions on how we could make our shows even better. Sometimes you have to see things in action before you can really notice ways to improve them. Last night gave us an opportunity to see a few areas we will be adjusting going forward.
Considering that it was only roughly 2 months ago that a small group of people met on a Sunday afternoon in Springfield, Illinois with the crazy idea of forming a local sprint car racing series, we are proud of our accomplishments to date, and the success of last night's event only reinforces our belief that we can make this series work over the long term.
Again, we wish to thank all of our fans, participants, staff, volunteers, sponsors and our new friends at 34 Raceway for the support you gave us on the opening night of the Monster Energy Sprint Car Series. We hope it is just a sample of bigger and better things to come in the future.
-------------
See the first round of highlights of last nights action prepared by Ross Wece HERE. Realize that Ross rolled into a hotel in Jacksonville at 3am this morning, then faced a 4 hour drive to Carbondale today and still had this highlight package done before 5pm. Nice work Ross!
We hope to have another video that chronicles the nights events completed in the near future. Stay Tuned.
--------------
As for the question about Donnie Beechler, unexpected family obligations did not allow him to compete last night and his name was removed from our anticipated list of drivers earlier in the week. Donnie will not be running the full series, but will participate in the majority of our events.
---------------
Check out photos and comments from last nights event on our Facebook Page.

Sorry to say that no i am not familiar with Korey Weyant, the 83 comes from my dad's old cars. I am however involved with the Speedquip Mototrsports #75 midget recently driven by Brad Kuhn in various POWRI events and also with Johnny Herrera Racing during his 2009 Knoxville Championship. But anyhow no I am not I just didn't want someone getting the wrong idea...
