Ventura has the absolute WORST announcer I have ever heard. Watching on ustream and he basically just shouts out names of drivers during the racing action instead of calling what's happening... simply pathetic.... Other than that it's great to watch the action - just wish there was someone calling the action on the track.

They had a guest announcer for a while tonight for the first two sprint heats - think it was a driver - and he did SUCH a WAY better job ... thought maybe the regular mouth would take a clue -- but nope ... when the guest left the regular borefest went back to his regular routine of shouting out drivers' last names ... unfortunately.

EDIT - in the vein of constructive advice - maybe in addition to the drivers' last names include position like Kruuuuseman in first, Camarillo second, Kershaw in third - etc and car numbers would help - as there are folks watching (perhaps for the first time) that aren't familiar with the cars and drivers. And "going high" "running the bottom" "battle for second/third/transfer position" would be nice as well. Simply shouting out drivers' names is irritating as hell.... (as if you couldn't tell). wink

Otherwise it's really cool being able to watch sprint racing (along with the other classes) from Ventura, CA here in OKC courtesy of "Al Gore's" interweb from the comfort of my LR (and on the bigscreen) for FREE without spending a fortune on gas and having to drive like Eckert across country to see it.

Maybe he read filtair's comments. He was giving out the car number with their names in the senior division main, and toned it down some. http://venturaraceway.com/live.html

I'd like to think I helped with his few moments of clarity (but sincerely doubt it) as he was a bit better for a while about putting numbers with names (although colors may work better as numbers can be rather hard to discern on ustream) and calling positions too ...... but then again, for a couple of laps in the sprint A he was silent altogether (napping perhaps?) -- then it was right back to his bizness as uzual... Strange thing is he sounds great and like a normal announcer between races (although a bit goofy but whatdahellwhoain't) -- it's just during the races he is usually lacking severely in describing the action.

But again - it was VERY nice to see Ventura's whole program free - REALLY like the lineups between races as well as the billboard showing the racing program's status and the camerawork is really decent -- the karts and Sr. Sprints were cool too. It looks like a racy little track and I hope to visit oneadesedayz.
