very late as you can tell! lol

Cody Morris, Oklahoma City, OK (4-1-2011) - Over 90 Lucas Oil American Small Car Series mini sprints invaded Oklahoma City's lightning fast I-44 Speedway for the first of two nights of action packed racing at the 2011 Ryan Craighead Memorial. With nearly 160 total race cars, a long night of wheel to wheel action was certainly in the making.

Shining as bright as the overhead stars at nearly 230am, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma's Scott Sawyer took the Lucas Oil ASCS2 Outlaw A Feature checkered flag to join Coweta, Oklahoma's Chance Morton and Oklahoma City's hometown favorite Trey Marcham as preliminary night Ryan Craighead Memorial victors.

Lucas Oil ASCS2 A Main action would get underway with the 20 lap Lucas Oil ASCS2 Non Wing A Feature, as Longview, Texas native Tyson Hall led the field to the initial green flag. Hall would maintain the point until Oklahoma City's Trey Marcham rocketed by the Texan 4 laps into the main event.

Marcham would hit his marks throughout the final 16 laps to claim his first Lucas Oil ASCS2 Non Wing victory aboard the RD Marcham Energy, Pinnacle Energy Services, and Le Norman Operating sponsored blue no. 32 machine.

In his first mini sprint outing since being named Director of Competition for the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour sprint car series, Tulsa, Oklahoma's Matt Ward would shadow Marcham throughout the latter stages of the race before ultimately settling for runner up honors.

Mustang, Oklahoma's Chris Cochran claimed the show position with Tulsa's Chris Andrews advancing from his 19th starting position to claim the 4th and final lock in position for Saturday nights Lucas Oil ASCS2 Non Wing A Feature.

Pauls Valley, Oklahoma native and 2010 Lucas Oil ASCS2 Non Wing runner up Steven Shebester took honors in the 12 lap B Feature event. 32 drivers participated in Lucas Oil ASCS2 Non Wing heat race action.

The 20 lap Lucas Oil ASCS2 Restricted main event would shortly follow with Jay Ball leading the field to the opening green flag. After a trio of stoppages in the opening circuits that dashed the hopes of 8 talented drivers, Coweta, Oklahoma native Chance Morton would exit the fray with the lead.

Morton would pace the final 14 circuits to grab his first Lucas Oil ASCS2 Restricted triumph of the 2011 campaign in convincing fashion aboard the Napa Auto Parts, Momo's Racing Engine's, Intruder Chassis, and Morton Excavative sponsored black no. 7m.

Fletcher, Oklahoma's Cord Dodson would settle for runner up honors with Texas native Christian Kennison nabbing the show position. Fellow Texan Chris Martin would earn the 4th and final lock in position to Saturday night's Lucas Oil ASCS2 Restricted A feature event.

Zane Lawrence aced the 12 lap Lucas Oil ASCS2 Restricted B Feature as 29 cars entered into Lucas Oil ASCS2 Restricted competition in the first of two nights of I-44 Speedway's 2011 Ryan Craighead Memorial.

The final Lucas Oil A Feature would take to the track at nearly 2am - but would ultimately stand as likely the fiercest competition of the evening. Longview, Texas' Tyson Hall would lead the Lucas Oil ASCS2 Outlaw main event to the initial green flag.

Hall would maintain the point as many ferocious battles ensued immediately behind him. Those battles would ultimately catch up to Hall as Broken Arrow, Oklahoma's Scott Sawyer would battle by with 5 laps remaining.

A lap 17 yellow for the collected mounts of Kade Morton and Drew Salisbury would set the stage for an excellent dash to the finish line, with Sawyer having a decreased advantage over the hard charging duo of 2010 Lucas Oil ASCS Non Wing champion Christopher Bell and 2010 Lucas Oil ASCS2 Outlaw Champion Blake Hahn. Both Bell and Hahn dispatched of the lapped car placed between them and the leader, but it would be Hahn gaining advantage over Bell as the field saw two laps to go.

Sawyer would take full advantage of the quick battle and take the last 8 corners in calm fashion en route to earning his first Lucas Oil ASCS2 Outlaw feature vicotry of the young 2011 campaign aboard the Sawyer Chassis, Advanced Racing Suspensions, Metric Cycles, KMK Enterprises, Lightning Wings, Guhl Motors, Leading Edge Composites, and Rod End Supply sponsored no. 29 ride.

Sapulpa, Oklahoma native Blake Hahn would settle for runner up honors with Norman, Oklahoma's Christopher Bell claiming the show position. An Outlaw winner of the 2011 Lucas Oil ASCS2 kickoff at Cowtown Speedway, Lindsay, Oklahoma's Harli White would advance from her 8th starting spot into the 4th and final lock in position for Saturday night's Lucas Oil ASCS2 Outlaw main event.

Burleson, Texas native Jeb Sessums topped the 12 lap Lucas Oil ASCS2 Outlaw B Feature event. 31 drivers entered into Lucas Oil ASCS2 heat race competition.

The 2011 Ryan Craighead Memorial would begin in startling and harrowing fashion, as 2009 Lucas Oil ASCS2 Restricted Champion Darrien Roberts went airborne at speed after a colliding with the back straightaway wall in one of the Lucas Oil ASCS2 Non Wing hot lap sessions.

Semi-conscious and clearly shaken, Roberts was transported to the University of Oklahoma Trauma Center. There were several unofficial reports of a severe concussion, however no official word has been received other than Roberts has been discharged at the time of this writing. The Lucas Oil American Small Car Series staff joins the entire racing community in extending their best wishes to the Roberts family and in hoping for a full recovery very soon.

Lucas Oil American Small Car Series action reignites in only 9 short hours. Saturday's start times for the 2011 I-44 Speedway Ryan Craighead Memorial have been officially revised due to the late hour of the preliminary night ending.

Gates will open at 3pm with hot laps following at 5pm. Heat race action is scheduled to go green at 6pm.

By the end of the heats half the crowd was gone, at the start of the Outlaw A main their was 16 people left in the stands. And I44 wonders why they don't get fan support.
