Monster Energy™ Sprint Car Series to Hit Illinois/Iowa!

(Bill W) March 25, 2011 - The newly formed Midwest Open Wheel Association (MOWA) is proud to announce that its 2011 schedule of events will be known as the Monster Energy ™ Sprint Car Series. Eleven dates are already on the racing calendar with more in the works. All are scheduled within traveling distance of series headquarters in Springfield, Illinois. First up, will be the series opener at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa on Saturday, April 23.

The series is made possible through the association of MOWA with Illinois based distributors of Monster Energy™. Distributors include A.Gaudio and Son in Jacksonville, Illinois, and Decatur Illinois based Skeff Distributing.

Other Monster Energy distributors throughout the MOWA geographic footprint will also provide event support. In addition to the Monster Energy™ title sponsorship, the series will also have support from Budweiser as the Official Beer of MOWA. The alignment of MOWA with regional distributors of Monster Energy™ and Budweiser will provide the series with significant local support at tracks throughout Illinois and Southeast Iowa.

Well over twenty drivers have signed on for the full slate of events, with many more planning to hit the majority of the shows in a part-time fashion. Numerous contingency sponsors and a series point fund have added much to the anticipation of open wheel drivers in the Midwest. The opener in West Burlington should draw some of the best 410 drivers in the region!

The series is seen as a breath of fresh air to both 410 fans and drivers in the rich and historical sprint car region of Central Illinois! "This is coming together better than anything I've ever seen in Illinois period," says racing veteran and fan favorite Jim Moughan Jr., winner of over 130 feature events. "I look for this to be a great series."

I would like to embed the above linked video and others, but my cutting and pasting from Youtube doesn't seem to fly. Any advice would be appreciated...

This is good news to see two well known companies sponsor this. Seems like Monster and / Rockstar sponsor a lot of "non main stream" sports and to see a different sponsor I think bodes well for sprint car racing. Other than the Aussy photoshoped sprint car I have not seen Monster sponsor too much if on a sprintcar.

This sounds like a good series, congrats and best of luck. I REALLY like that RR tire rule - G/Y 200/300 or Hoosier SC15/25. Good old-fashioned common sense at work here...
