CURRENT USAC NATIONAL POINT LEADER DAMION GARDNER AT SOKOLA SHOOTOUT!
(Perris, CA, March 9, 2011) Concord, California's Damion Gardner, the current point leader in the Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car Series, will be on hand to take on the stars of the USAC/CRA Series at the season opening Sokola Shootout at Perris Auto Speedway this Saturday night, March 12th. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM and the first race will be at 7:00. The California Lightning Sprint Cars will also be on hand for the open wheel double header.
Gardner, the 2005 USAC/CRA champion, began the 2011 campaign with a bang when he won two of the first three National races in Ocala, Florida last month. Affectionately known as "The Demon" to his legion of fans, Gardner finished second in National points in 2010 and currently has a 22-point lead over multi-time national champion Levi Jones. The next national series race will be at Tony Stewart's Eldora Speedway next month.
Even though he was not a full time campaigner in the 2010 USAC/CRA Series, Gardner's five victories tied him with three-time series champion Mike Spencer for most wins overall.
