You know this is exactly what I have been saying. I too sent an e-mail to the Oklahoman, in response to the Grand Prix race. Apparently my e-mail was to graphic to publish, so I was glad to hear of, and read the response of a true racing fan that has lost a part of her life due to "big time" sporting events in OKC.
Oklahoma is traditionally steeped with great athletes that have gone on to greatness. We have also created some great actors/actresses, and some pretty good Musicians. We don't tear down Facilities for the fine arts, we infact encourage it with fund raisers and such.
For some odd reason the racing community although we have produced many big time racers gets kicked to the curb for some Wine & Cheese party racers that our City Leaders think would be good for Oklahoma Racing.
I am of the believe that the OKC City Council needs to do their homework and realize they have taken away a venue for our local race car drivers to develop their skills and become the next Richard Petty.
