2/28/11 Texas World Dirt Track Championship Updates:

It's finally race week at Texas Motor Speedway, and what a great week it's shaping up to be!

First off, if this latest weather forecast holds out, it will make for excellent racing conditions - for both race teams and for fans:

Thu Mar 3, Sunny: PRACTICE NIGHT (cost is $60 per race car to practice, and that gets your team in the pits too, grandstands closed)
HIGH: 74°, LOW: 54°
0% PRECIP

Fri Mar 4, Mostly Cloudy: (OPENING NIGHT: MODS/LTDS Qualify, $10 PER CARLOAD FOR GRANDSTAND TICKETS!)
HIGH: 73°, LOW: 47°
PRECIP 20%

Sat Mar 5, Partly Cloudy: (CHAMPIONSHIP NIGHT: MODS/LTDS LCQ's & FEATURES, COMPLETE SUPR LATE MODEL SHOW, $15 PER CARLOAD FOR GRANDSTAND TICKETS!)
HIGH: 64°, OVERNIGHT LOW: 38°
PRECIP 20%

ONLINE DRIVER REGISTRATION, PRACTICE NIGHT payments, PIT PASS SALE and CONCRETE PAD RESERVATIONS are now closed. 'Race week' entries are just fine, you can enter when you arrive at the track on either practice night or race night at 'race week' prices...that goes for late models too.

COMPLETE EVENT DETAILS, including registration prices, gate times, race times and more are available at:
www.darinshort.com/world10.html

MAKE PLANS NOW to be a part of the biggest dirt race this spring with the running of the Texas World Dirt Track Championship March 3-5 at The Dirt Track at Texas Motor Speedway!

Any news as to how many cars have pre-registered?

Perhaps a list of names?

I did one with Oklahoma drivers who were entered but am told that drivers called the promoter down there and complained so I had to delete everything.

Sorry for the delay, been on-site & offline; but I can tell you online entry numbers are within 24 (total of all classes) of the 2010 event; so it's pretty much the same IMO.

And with McCool getting weathered out early enough in the week, you might see some 'invaders' joining the fray (that race was weathered out after Monday's online entry close, so those drivers will register when they arrive at the track Thursday/Friday).

Just checked weather, looking really good: 70's and 10% precip on Friday, 60's and 20% precip on Saturday (reminder, races start early Saturday & NO hot laps for any class; so at 6pm the first green flag drops).

LATEST TMS RACE WEEKEND WEATHER - as of 3/3, 9AM:

Overall, it's looking really good - a 100% improvement over last year's 'Shiverfest.' Sneaky

The only precip chance they're currently showing is after the front moves through Friday night, but it's a 30% chance between 2AM-4AM on Saturday morning.

Today Mar 3, Mostly Sunny PRACTICE NIGHT
75° HIGH, 55° OVERNIGHT LOW, 0% PRECIP

Fri Mar 4, Partly Cloudy OPENING NIGHT ($10 CARLOAD NIGHT FOR GRANDSTANDS!)
76° HIGH, 43° OVERNIGHT LOW, 20% PRECIP

***Teaser Alert: There is also going to be a special announcement made during the pit meeting on Friday night***

Sat Mar 5, AM Clouds / PM Sun CHAMPIONSHIP NIGHT ($15 CARLOAD NIGHT TO SEE A $3500/win SUPR LATE MODEL SHOW, $3000/win & 700 to start MODIFIED CHAMPIONSHIP and $2000/win & $400 to start LIMITED MODIFIED CHAMPIONSHIP)
61° HIGH (Remember, first green flag drops at 6pm), 36° OVERNIGHT LOW, 20% PRECIP

I understand Jeremy Payne has loaded up his modified and headed down there and more than likely see Terry Phillips in either his mod or late model as well.

I read on rodney Sanders facebook that he is heading for TMS with McCool cancelling. This may not be huge news to everyone but he is my favorite modified driver so it is for me!

FRIDAY 3/4 UPDATE:

It's finally race day at the World Dirt Track Championship at Texas Motor Speedway!

There is one update for this morning. The current forecast shows the overnight precip chances have been dropped, and the front is supposed to move through dry in the area around TMS...it appears to have shifted the precip chances further to the east (on my side of town).

Last night's practice shown racers multiple grooves around the wide expanses of TMS's Dirt Track, with fast and smooth track conditions...setting the stage for a great weekend of racing!

If you're a driver that has yet to register, you can still do so upon your arrival at the speedway today...speedway officials will get you all fixed up when you get to the pit gate.

And fans, don't miss out on a weekend of great racing action - at family affordable prices; with just $10 per carload tonight and $15 per carload for tomorrows championship racing. Reminder, the first race starts at 6pm on each night. Tonight there are hot laps at 5pm, but there are no hot laps on Saturday.

Click

If you're unable to make it to the event in person, you can still catch the action from the comfort of your home, with the live Pay-Per-View by clicking:

93 limited modifieds and 104 modifieds have signed in for the opening night of the Texas World Dirt Track Championship tonight at Texas Motor Speedway.

A full field of late models will join the mix for tomorrow's 6pm championship night, that pays $3500 to win for the late models, $3000/win and $700 to start for the modifieds and $2000/win and $400 to start for the limitied modifieds...just $15 per carload to get into the grandstands, so pack up your family, neighbors, in-laws and outlaws and head out to the track for a great night of racing!
