Cody Morris, Tulsa, OK (02-21-2011) - The Lucas Oil American Small Car Series will aim south for the 2011 season opener at the ultra fast venue that hosted the final pair of events of the 2010 campaign. The historical quarter mile high banks of Kennedale, Texas’ Cowtown Speedway will host the Lucas Oil ASCS2 opener for the 3rd consecutive season. It seems only fitting that after the Chili....comes The Big Chill.

On the strength of a stellar 2010 campaign capped at the end by a pair of action rich Cowtown showcasings, the Lucas Oil ASCS2 Outlaw, Non Wing, and Restricted divisions now headline The Big Chill, the two-day season opener for both ASCS2 and Cowtown Speedway. Postponed due to a record snow event that also frustrated tens of thousands of Super Bowl goers; Cowtown Speedway and the stars of the Lucas Oil American Small Car Series prepare to kick off The Big Chill Friday, February 25th at 7pm, followed by a saturday afternoon finale at 2pm.

As a stout field of talented competitors gather for The Big Chill, some look to a clean slate for the 2011 campaign, others to continue upon last season’s success. The latter would be true, and somewhat of an understatement, for Sapulpa, Oklahoma’s defending 2010 Lucas Oil ASCS2 Outlaw Champion Blake Hahn. After surviving a cutting edge season long points battle with ultra talented young Norman, OK star Christopher Bell, Hahn multiplied ASCS2 success with a rare clean sweep in the perennially ferocious Tulsa Shootout, exiting with not just one, but two Golden Drillers, having swept both Winged and Non Winged Outlaw action against a record gathering of talent.

However, equal spotlight must be shed on phenomenal open wheel ace Christopher Bell. Falling one mechanical malfunction short of a possible 2010 Lucas Oil ASCS2 Outlaw title, Bell produced a near flawless 2010 Lucas Oil ASCS2 Non Wing Championship. The thrilling 16 year old pilot hailing from Norman, Oklahoma will be back on the Lucas Oil ASCS2 trail in 2011 looking to reverse the fortunes in Outlaw action, while defending his Non Wing title and making a rookie push for the 2011 Lucas Oil ASCS2 Midget Championship.

The Lucas Oil ASCS2 invasion of Sooner state stars will not be without stout Lone Star challenge, especially in the form of Longview, Texas’ Tyson Hall, who burst onto the Lucas Oil ASCS2 scene with a remarkable pair of $1,500 triumphs in the final 2 races of the Lucas Oil ASCS2 2010 campaign. Other potential Lone Star favorites could include defending 2010 Cowtown Speedway A Class Champion Andy Hogan and 2009’s Cowtown Speedway 600 champion Jeb Sessums.

The only certainty is that a Big Chill is on the immediate horizon, an epic high speed battle between border state bandits with $1,500 paychecks going to the victorious pilots in Outlaw and Non Wing action, as well as a $750 score awaiting the winner of Restricted action.

The Big Chill, featuring the Lucas Oil ASCS2 Outlaw, Non Wing, and Restricted divisions, will commence Friday, February 25th with gates opening at 5pm, hot laps at 630pm, and heat and qualifier action at 7pm. Gates open for Saturday’s Big Chill finale at noon, hot laps at 130pm with features set to follow at 2pm.

The Big Chill will mark the first of 4 weekends of 2011 Lucas Oil ASCS2 action at Cowtown Speedway that includes the inaugural Sizzlin 600 Nationals June 24th and 25th, before again hosting the final two events on the 2011 calendar with Lucas Oil ASCS2 Shootouts in both October and November.

After a dazzling 2010 campaign that set an extremely high standard, the Lucas Oil American Small Car Series looks to push that bar even further. The release of the 2011 Lucas Oil ASCS2 Midget schedule notwithstanding, the 2011 Lucas Oil American Small Car Series campaign is currently slated for 26 events at 7 tracks across Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, and Missouri. Fans from all locations are welcome to enjoy the limitless action and talent of the premier mini sprint organization in the region.
