I use an HDMI cable from a new Dell laptop to the ol' HD CRT and extend the desktop to it for this purpose so it can display 2 different screens. Laptop 1 (older Dell) only has VGA out and not an overly robust video card - but it could be connected to the projector with a VGA cable - HDMI is easier to connect. The projector is via HDMI from the "Big Puter" (P4 3G overclocked to 3.36G) that I built for a Home Theater PC years ago - recently put a new video card in it that has 1G of dedicated memory and HDMI out. If you need any help configuring your setup let me know.

The same cable for your PC. Most of the TV's now have the same connection.

I decided long ago that when I hit the lottery jackpot I was going to fly you here to outfit my new house.

But now that I find out what a braggart you are, I'm reconsidering. Smile

Not bragging ... just showing what can be done with a little ingenuity and technical knowhow... and I am FAR from rich - no lottery winner here... Like I say on my web site --- "You don't have to spend a small fortune to achieve the desired "WOW factor" (unless you really want to)."

Hell -- I know for a fact that I have less invested in my whole setup than a lot of folks pay for a single HDTV ... ya just gotta know how and where to buy stuff ... wink

Oh...alright. I suppose the offer still stands. And, I said when I win the lottery. Smile

I have an HD cable connecting the Wii console to the HDTV and stream Netflix movies and I can search YouTube and watch racing clips. That's a little easier than having to deal with the laptop and the various connections. Did that in the past before the Wii console but now I just go through that.

My biggest technology challenge with the "big TV" in the living room is getting the wife to give up a night of Survivor, American Idol, the Bachelor and the rest of her lineup. She's got the DRV recording two things at once most of the time so it kicks me off sports when the timer starts. I've got another box in my man cave but only have a 13" TV so there's not much real estate for multi windows.

So I guess my question would be do you have an ap that would put the wife on pause for a couple hours so I can watch my stuff? wink

Stan - unfortunately the first thing that comes to mind could be fairly expensive -- give 'er the credit card and send her to the mall... wink

A less expensive alternative would be to check Craigslist or the local classifieds for a bigger TV for your Cave -- due to the flat-panel trend, folks are dumping 40"-50" rear-projection HDTVs fairly cheap - $200-$300 and I see widescreen Sony WEGA tube TVs on CL regularly selling for around $100-$200 - but they weigh about 200lbs and are a royal PITA to move - like two or three guys and a furniture dolly. The upside is the Sonys (XBR 960|970 models in particular) have arguably the BEST picture quality of any TV except possibly the Pioneer KURO line of plasmas. The problem with the XBRs is that 34" is the biggest Sony made their widescreen tube TVs due to the weight of the tube's glass. The problem with the KURO is that it's also no longer made (Pioneer got out of the TV biz) and used ones are still a few grand if you can find someone willing to part with one.

200# wouldn't work. I've got the 13" sitting on top of my computer hutch so I can keep an eye on racing when I'm on the computer. The credit card idea ain't so good either, I've got a few years to try and pay those down for when I retire.

I'm really not much of a television watcher anyways so it's no big deal. Once the weather warms up I won't watch another whole race on TV until the middle of October.

Most of the television and movie sites won't work through the Wii console. They negotiated a deal with Netflix to be on their list of devices and YouTube works but mostly I only use it to stream movies. The browser on the Wii is slow for web surfing so I don't do much of that on the Wii. I've got a nice size monitor, cable internet, some nice speakers and a comfortable chair in the office so I do the racing stuff in here mostly.
