I was thinking the other day why cant the sprint car world have what the late model world has....an all World race. The most prestigious race to win in a late model drivers eyes isnt the huge paying $100,000 Dream ...its The World 100. So why couldnt a race track, maybe in the center of the country(Lucas Oil Raceway in Wheatland Mo. or I-55 Raceway in Pevely, Mo) arrange an all 410 both winged and non-winged race that pays substantial amounts in both divisions...have drivers from California vs.PA Posse vs. World of Outlaws vs. True Outlaws....the best in the world in both divisions. Could this race be possible??

You mean the Knoxville nationals and the week that leads up to them at Knoxville and Osky?

Isn't it already done???

Knoxville is in the middle of the country last time I checked.....

Drivers from CA, PA, WoO, All Stars and "true outlaws" show up for the Nationals every year (51st annual this year).

non-wing being added to the card all 4 nights would be awesome, but highly doubtful to put more butts in the seats....

That sounds good but Ind. Sprint Week is always going on during the King's Royal so that would keep some of those guys away from a wingless race at Eldora. And you won't see hardly any of the guys at Eldora shed their wings there. Maybe Haud but that's about it.

It's too bad that K'Ville doesn't pay more for their other races during Iowa Speedweek. The 360 nats. pays $10K to win and Bud Kaeding won $6K at the USAC race last year and they spread out what half a mill for the Nats. A-main? Come on guys.

butts in the seats is why teh 360 Nat's and the USAC race pay what they do....

If more people would show up on Thurs-Fri of 360 Nat's, the purse would start to go up.

Less than 1/2 of the crowd that attended the finale of the 360 Nat's showed up for the USAC race, yet never left town. If people start going to these races, the purses will increase IMO.

I was in the stands for 9 of the 10 nights, the 4 least attended nights were as follows (not neccessarily in order): Sunday, Thurs of 360's, Fri of 360's and Sat of 360's. Every night (or afternoon) of the 410 Nat's supassed each and every one of those events during Speedweek. (I'd bet my paycheck that the Late Models on Thurs in October outdrew the USAC race as far as butts in the seats go), yet paid about the same in purse those nights.

You are spot on.....I love all sprint car racing 410,360,wing,non wing....It amazes me at the nationals every year how many people I talk to that have never seen a non wing race...I gaurantee that anybody who saw Haud win the Mopar Million at Eldora would rave about what they saw...I am not comparing wing/non wing at all as I have seen every Kings Royal and the last 15 Nationals with many awesome and memorable wing races...Many non wing fans hate the wings and many wing fans have never given non wings a chance....It would be unreal to get everyone together in such a dream race....Remember not only did Haud win the Mopar Million, Stevie Smith and Dean Jacobs were on the podium as well...Smith was making his first non wing start at Eldora and there were 120 cars there including BK from Cal...

I guess what I was getting at with my post was that the crowds can't justify the purse you are proposing. It'd be a $$$ loser for any track, as since the "fans" are so divided (wing vs. non-wing), a big huge race put on as you are suggesting would end up with 1/2 full grandstands (at best) for each division (unless they run the same night), due to limited hotel, camping space.

It's kind of like Late Model and Sprint Fans @ the World Finals. Each group seems to use the others races as their time to go hit the concession stand or restroom.....

I am sure both of those tracks hold enough poeple to pay that purse. LOL

There's a difference between capacity and actual butts in the seats.....

Could Knoxville pay $25,000 to win the USAC race, of course they could, but if the same 4000 people that showed up this year for $6000 to win @ $20 per adult and $10 per kid is all that show up for a $25,000 to win race, you would need ~16,000 fans to show up at the same ticket price for the track to make the same amount of $$ at the end of the night.

On the flip side, if the same 4000 people is all that show, ticket prices would have to be at least $50 per adult and $25 per kid and IMO, only about 1/2 of those 4000 would be willing to shell out more cash....which means they still can't constitute paying the price....

As for the Mopar Million, didn't tickets run $85 per person for that???? Yea, it got a good crowd for a one time event, but I doubt it would have sustained in the long run (the $1,000,000 to win Late Model Race was a one time deal as well, and the fans on the Late Model boards complain now about $30 tickets...)

It was a joke

That is why I put LOL at the end , I thought I should explain it

You are wasting your time with math on this board, most are not that deep and it will blow thier minds

How do you know they could could pay $25,000 to win?

What I mean by the could pay $25,000 to win is that they could advertise and pay a purse that big for the USAC show. The problem would be re-couping their $$$ at the ticket office which is why, IMO, that they don't.

I think people should be happy with what they get to see for the $$$ they are paying, most dirt track (all divisions) fans don't realize how good we have it.

Paid $350 to go to the 50th Daytona 500. Had to pay $100 to park my rental car (for a 1 day show), concessions were triple what dirt tracks charge.

Facility was a DUMP (sat on 40 year old 2x10 board with 1/2 of a folding chair bolted to it that had 50 coats of paint over the top of the rust (entire place looked run-down for that matter) and the racing was terrible....

Paid $160 to go to the 50th Knoxville Nationals. Parked on the street for FREE, concessions were reasonable. Facility is well maintained and freshly painted. The racing was GREAT!!!

Damn I dont remember paying 85 dollars for the Mopar Million....maybe that was for a pit pass...I believe Earl did that because it was on his bucket list and I am sure Mopar helped pay for it....We can dream about what we would love to see in what we all would call our Dream Race cause we dont have to pay the purse....Could you imagine a Chili Bowl with 410 sprint cars? Now that would be the ultimate!!

I remember the tickets for the Mopar Million being in the $80 range, but it was a two-day ticket so you could justify it to yourself that it was $40 per day if you wanted to. I believe Eldora has the same type of ticket set-up for the World 100 and the Dream (or at least they used to).

It may have been a "good" crowd, but I remember having plenty of room to move around. My friend and I didn't have the greatest seats, but if you would compare that crowd to a typical King's Royal crowd I think the KR crowd would be bigger.

And the 360 nationals has Ironman 55 going against it. Now that is only a 1 day show but still on Saturday.

I used to attend the Final night of the 360 Nats until the Ironman 55 came along. Take away the 410's on the 360 Nats finale and you would have even less butts in the seats. My dream race would be the WoO paying 20k to win and the ascs paying 3k to win in a support class role.
