After watching the Speed Chili Bowl A main... was it me or did Sammy let up coming out of four so Kevin could win???
The other option is that Sammy let up as to not slide into Kevein and crash both cars. If it would of been any other driver (non teammate), it would of been a big crash across the finish.
What do you think?

Looked to me like it hopped as he came off the berm and the car pushed a bit (he said it was too tight) so he breathed it to set the car and then gassed it and spun the tires in the slick. But if it hadn't been Kevin outside of him - whoever it was would have been in the fence. He said post-race on RacinBoys that he wasn't going to tear up two cars that he owns.

I'm not going there with you. That man cuts nobody any slack including himself. The thing that amazed me the most is how tight everyone was. Sammy's car was nearly un-drivable at the beginning and it seemed almost everyone had the car set up for a dry slick, no cusion, baby ass smooth racing surface. Bryan Clauson must have used up the remainder of his luck from last year at least FIVE times during that race. Kevin was quick enough to floor it as soon as he got the car straight enough and got the win. Simple as that.

Wondering when someone else was going 2 notice that finish. I totally agree! If he really wanted 2 he could've slid across taking his sons line. I would've done the same 2 my son. Let em get his rocks off 2 yrs running. Id love nothing more than me and my dad spankin every1s ass 2 yrs running..props 2 both of em. But sammy let up..

As soon as it happened I said he let off. Maybe he did or didn't but if it was anyone but Kevin out there, Sammy would have won the race. He had him cleared by plenty. Gotta give Kevin props though. He did drive his way to the front passing some pretty good cars in the process. None of them pulled over and let him go. The sliders on BC and Dad were nifty.
Speaking of BC, how many cars did he wreck trying to keep up with them? He's a good driver but definitely got over his head several times. Unfortunately others paid the price.
Pickens was the fastest car the last 10 laps. His trip to the back cost him a real chance to win.

so, are you saying sammy Let kevin win? or are you saying sammy may have used his head to keep from crashing both cars that HE owns?
as the car owner, the checks for both 1st and 2nd get wrote to him no matter the order of the cars.
i have a question. would you like to be the one to explain to the kids mother why you took the kid out?
i am thinking sammy didn't know exactly where kevin was and he wasn't going to take a chance on ruining both their races. with sammy on the bottom and kevin on the top, no one was getting by either of them. just give the kid room, and what happens, happens. either way, you go home with both checks.

Never heard of Michael Pickens before, but am sure he's probably well known in midget racing by most fans. Looked like the car to beat, at least according to the announcers. If he had not had to stop on track to avoid a car sitting sideways on the track on about lap 20, pushing him to the rear of the field, the New Zealander may have gotten the biggest win of his career.
Lawlessness and liberalism equals Hell. NY City,
Detroit, Seattle, Chicago, Minnepolis, etc. We saw it.
Burning hundreds of buildings, a thousand assaults and
dozens of murders. Getting worser and worser.

This very same question was ask of Sammy at the Press Conference afterwards. Sammy responded that he did back off otherwise if the slider went bad he would have had 2 wrecked cars and possibly would have taken both of them out and it wasn't worth the risk. He figured a 1, 2 family finish was better than crashing out. This sounds kind of odd since we all know Sammy is a balls out do or die driver but with his wisdom and experience, I tend to believe he told us the truth.

I knew Sammy was good but to time Kevins win to .8 of a second is Very Very Good

I don't think Sammy let Kevin win ..but i do think he gave him way more racing room then he would have ANY other car.....Yes he was not going to crash his own cars to win..but would have crashed his and anothers to win for sure..

If Sammy let off, it was because he knew Kevin won't lift either.
