Interested to see the most popular belts used in Sprint Car racing. I would guess Simpson to be the most widely used, although it seems other manufactures have surpasseed them with things like the 2" Hans shoulder harness, the dual shoulder harnesses, ratcheting lap belts, and so on. I've been looking at Hookers ratcheting belts and Schroth's Latch/Link Hans belts. What do you prefer and why?

Crow Latch + Link for Midgets or Sprints.
Basically the same thing as Simpson only less expensive. Also, I have spoken with the folks at Crow several times about our application and their re-webbing process and they seem to be great people that have kept their word every time. Turn around is fast and the craftsmanship seems to be great.
Destini is using the R3 device, so we do not have a need to accommodate a HANS. Things may be different with that application, I don't know.

Used Schroth's for the first time last year. The nicest belts I have ever used. Zero complaints.

I started using the hooker ratcheting belts this past year and will never use anything else.....they are great cause I can loosen my belts on a red and not have to worry about having someone re-tighten my lap belt..........by far best belts I have ever had

How does the ratchet lap belt mount? Do they wraparound the frame rail or do they bolt up to double shear mounts? I would be interested to know how because I'm thinking about ordering a set. Thanks

This does a good job of explaining and showing proper installation of your harnesses as well as some interesting cage modifications to provide additional safety.

The racheting belts I've had in cars bolted to an additional front to rear bar that ran from the front seat mount bar to the butt bar under the back of the seat. Kind of a pain to add if your car wasn't built with it. Don't know if they've come up with something that clamps on but you wanted the belt in close to the seat so it pulled down more than across. That was the Hooker belt set up and it was well made. For standard belts I like the Crow. Their silver belt is a material that stretches less so the driver stays planted in the seat better. Forget price, get the very best, no matter how much it costs.

I think I've narrowed it down to a 6 point system with a V-sub strap. I really like Schroth's belts and Hooker's ratchet. Since I can't combine the 2 i need to make a decision. Schroth actually now makes a 2" to 3" shoulder harness for the Hans and a 2" lap belt which they say helps load your pelvic area quicker in a crash which helps to keep the body under control. Thanks for the insight fellas.
