Due to shifting of WoO dates, there is an open weekend in the spring Cali. swing. How about a local track putting up a decent purse for a "open" 410 race to give these guys a place to race. A place like Santa Maris or Ocean you would pack the place. Plus, you would pull most of the WoO drivers for a nice field of cars. All you need is to pay an All Star Series purse with $5,000 to win/$400 to start.

Maybe the King of the West series could have their season opener this weekend. It seems the WoO & KOW series are working together.

March 12 Saturday Silver Dollar Speedway Chico, Calif.
March 18 Friday Giant Chevrolet Kings Speedway Hanford, Calif.
March 19 Saturday Thunderbowl Raceway Tulare, Calif.

March 25th & 26th - open

April 1 Friday Merced Speedway Merced, Calif.
April 2 Saturday Calistoga Speedway Calistoga, Calif.

the thing is, would the woo let their guys run a non sanctioned race? you have to remember woo teams can't run races at tracks not on the schedule without permission. the woo usually gives permission for them to race as long as their isn't a good reason not to. i am thinking the woo isn't going to allow that.

to indy and beyond!!

San Jose Speedway learned their lesson the hard way back in (I believe) 1988. They did not schedule with the WoO for a spring race and tried to schedule one of their own after Ascot if memory serves me right. All WoO drivers were told not to even think about competing in that event. I can't remember how many cars did show up - I was not there - but I seem to recall hearing that Sills won, that they paid the full purse, AND gave the fans their money back. Perhaps someone else can chime in on this.

Probably doesn't hurt to have the open weekend in case of weather.
