I always thought Joey Saldana was one of the cleanest racers on dirt. But 47sec into this crash compilation video from the Jan 21, 2011 Kings Challenge at Mt. Gambier, South Australia, it looks like Joey drives it in too hard and winds up dumping the 36n of Eddie Lumbar... hard! Then two nights later, Saldana put Jason Meyers in the wall at the Grand Annual Classic in Warrnambool. Are these isolated incidents or has Joey gotten more aggressive? What's your opinion?

In the first video, it appears that the other guy cranked it sideways in front of him, and it didn't look like joey nudged him all that hard.
The second clip doesn't even show the two getting together, other than Joey squeezing Myers up to the wall, and Meyers getting his right front caught on said wall.
Couple of less than aggressive moves to be accusing him of dirty driving. Remember that these cars do not have horns or turn signals, and if you want that watch Napcar.
Bye bye, Hardhat!

Really Dog? For one thing, even for the best of drivers, these cars are anything but locked down and things happen very fast on the track. For another, the races are short (sprints), so drivers who are not pushing the limits of their ride are probably not going to keep the seat long. IMO there are very few drivers who I'd call over aggresive. There may be a larger number that drive over their head but I don't think Joey falls into either catagory. 2 cents....

The Meyers incident was deliberate. I can see Saldana drifting up and making a quick jog to the right feeding Jason a wheel.
Don't know what's going on but it may go deeper than just this one incident. Imo.

I've seen him put Danny Smith's front end in the wall at I-55 and it seems like he always races Sammy "different" than other cars.

T-Mac and Calvin Landis (turn 1, K'ville) prob have their mind made up. I think I also know how Chad Smith (son of the Rim Rider) feels (Knoxville Nationals hotlaps, backchute) ...

He has turned his switch to Dale Sr mode. He will now wreck people on a regular basis.
Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

I am not making any accusations against Joey, I am asking if anyone else has noticed a recent shift in his driving style. I have been involved with motorsports for 35yrs and was of the opinion that Saldana was always a very precise and technical racer. Saying that he seems more aggressive lately is not a 'slam' but rather an observation. The two incidents I posted may very well BOTH be just "racin' deals" (although Meyers didn't think so) but ever since mid season last year, something seems to have changed with Saldana's on track demeanor. But... then again... I've been wrong before. Thanks for everyone's input!!!

If your a fan, it's aggressive, if your not, it's dirty. At some point, anybody that was ever any damn good at driving one of the has been called dirty, everybody's got their haters.

It looks to me like you're pretty good at coming up with a marketing strategy. Nobody can read your writeup without taking a look at the videos and offering up an opinion. Great job on all counts. ;-)

Thanks Stan, we're building a global community around dirt motorsports videos. And this forum is one of, if not the best in the world.

I'd say someone who's won more races than anyone in the last two years is doing exactly what he get's paid to do and that's win. It's not like he's out there ripping up equipment like Haud, Walker or TK. As for Meyers and Saldana not likng each other... Good! Ask Lucas Wolf how he felt when Meyers turned right!

Don't know about Joey wrecking people more than anyone else but last year has to still be weighing heavily on his mind. Two years in a row and all those wins, a ton of wins and no title. These are just two incidents. One was his fault I suppose, the other?
Lawlessness and liberalism equals Hell. NY City,
Detroit, Seattle, Chicago, Minnepolis, etc. We saw it.
Burning hundreds of buildings, a thousand assaults and
dozens of murders. Getting worser and worser.

Personally, if I wanted to see cars slamming into each other to pass, I'd go to stock car races
