Several weeks ago, the family of the late Frankie Lies opened their many scrapbooks and photo albums to me so that I could use that material to put together a web site about Lies' racing career to help preserve the history and for the enjoyment of his legions of fans. I am happy to say that three-page web site is now finished as best it can be unless new information surfaces. If you would like to visit it, here is the link: http://kansasRacingHistory.com/Cejay/Lies/Lies_Web_Page.htm A word of caution though. Page two of that web site is probably the largest web page I have ever constructed and even with the newest of computers, it will take a little time to completely load so please be patient. I believe you will find it worth the wait. Also, don't forget to view page three of the web site too as it contains the majority of the more than 200 photographs on the web site. Most of the photos are "thumbnails" so you can get a better view of each by clicking your mouse on each photo. I believe that even those who are avid Frankie Lies fans will find photographs on that web site that they have not seen before. If you can identify any of the unidentified people or cars in any of the photographs on the web site, please let me know. This thread would be a great place to do that. Enjoy!

another fantastic work by bob lawrence. the articles and photographs are really well done and covered the racing life of a truly great racer from wichita, it had been a real pleasure to have known frankie. i can remember when i attended races at c-jay stadium and saw him race at an early age. i remember watching frank lead a race by a strait away and my dad said why are you watching him, the race is back there, indicating i should watch the guy's racing for 2n/d place....

That site is great. It was interesting to see all the cars that he drove. Did they race the same 55 sedan every year? The Shot Hamton 94 sedan looks very similar to the 55, Who built it?

There were at least four different #55 cars:
(1) The Everhart owned car
(2) The Riffel car from the '50s
(3) The Riffel car from the '60s
(4) The Riffel car from the '70s
From here, it gets a little fuzzy. The Riffel #55s (especially the last one) were rebuilt and modernized almost constantly. At what point does that make such a car a "new car"?
I'm not sure who built the Hampton #94. I have heard that Shot did and I've heard that Nance did.

Good answer, in the pictures you can see different shades of blue and trim and other things that were changed. I love the oak bumper. that is the first pictures that I have seen of Shot Hampton's sedan, who else drove it and how successful was it?
