Johnson and Showtime Strap on Midgets for the Copper on Dirt

Kevin Montgomery TUCSON, Ariz. (February 1st, 2011) – Reigning Arizona Midget Champion, RJ Johnson, will lead the southwest contingent into the 5th Annual Copper on Dirt joined by Danny "Showtime" Sheridan aboard the ABC Motorsports, Robbie Allen Esslinger/Spike. Johnson, who will pilot the Bobby Martin Weiler Farms Esslinger/Spike, is no stranger to USA Raceway or victory lane. A winner in both Midget and Sprint Car competition at the Tucson facility, Johnson will aim for his first Midget crown at this year's edition of the Copper.

Johnson gears up for February after a Western World preliminary night victory and a top five in the $5000 finale only to be out done by Brady Bacon, Levi Jones and Bud Kaeding. With many laps in Midget, Sprint Car and Wing Sprint Car competition at USA Raceway, Johnson will be a top competitor for the Copper Crown.

Sheridan, a West Coast Sprint Car standout, will join former Arizona Sprint Car Champion Josh Pelkey in the potent ABC Body Shop stable. The dynamic duo will be among a stout cast of Midget racers from around the country all making their way to USA Raceway in just a few short weeks.

"Midgets on this track (USA Raceway) are so much fun to watch, it's almost breath taking" commented Benji Lyons of USA Raceway. "The Copper on Dirt is like having a cup of Western World mixed with a tablespoon of Wes Hurst Memorial, finished with a splash of Wild West Shootout. Throw in the Midgets and it sounds like a whole lot of fun to me!"

The 5th Annual "Copper on Dirt" will feature ASCS National Wing Sprint Cars, Midgets, The West Coast Late Model Shootout vs. Total Seal Late Model Dirt Racing Series and USRA Western Modifieds all taking part in a sensational racing spectacle at Tucson's USA Raceway's for two nights on February 18th and 19th marking USA Raceway as the only dirt track venue in the country to host all four premier divisions in one event.
