Just trying to find something to pass the time away on these cold Midwest winter days.
Anyone want to try their hand at identifying the cars in these old photos?
I apologize that you can't see the number on this car. The photo was taken on June 10, 1951 in Webster City, IA.
This crash occurred in 1952 at the driver's home town of Webster City, IA.
This photo was also taken at Webster City in 1952. The driver hailed from Christine, N.D.
Another 1952 photo in Webster City. The driver was from Austin, MN. (I'm the good lucking young man.)
May 24, 1953, IA. State Fairgrounds. The driver hailed from Wichita, KS.
May 24, 1953, IA. State Fair Grounds. This was a pretty well known driver who called Bates City, MO. home.
Hope you enjoy these and if anyone wants to hazard any guesses, I'll let you know how you did.
Stay warm!

The two photos of the crashed car are Cecil Greenley. the #5 car could be Herschal Wagner, the #25 is Jimmy Campbell and the R5 was driven by several but using the date as a gauge I would say the driver was Mack McHenry. All of these selections are of course a SWAG Scientific Wild Ass Guess

Great job! The only one you missed was the 5 car, which was driven by Ernie Johnson.

I've got some mid 50's IMCA clips posted on my site in case you haven't seen them. They were culled off a DVD from home movies that a lady named Gloria Johnson sent me a few years ago. Her dad owned one of the cars in the video. She thought the tracks were the Iowa Fairgrounds and Owatonna, Minnesota. http://www.gotomn.com/racing/Gloria-Johnson.htm

WOW!
Stan, thank you so much for this link. This is some fun stuff! I especially liked the stuff from the fairgrounds as I know I was in the grandstand at the time. I never thought I'd see footage of the Black Deuce at racing speed again.
If you were a racing fan during this period and haven't been to this website, you're missing something special.
Thanks again.

Would the 66 car be Clair Cotter from Austin, MN?
