Food is so overpriced and 4.75 beer. These are the types of prices that drive people away. Thank God for Knoxville 1.00 soda 2.00 hotdog 3-4 dollar hamburger and 2.00 beer . Racing is great but food prices terrible in my opinion

Agreed, just like the movie's way to much!! I don't mind paying a fair price but getting raped is something else.

If those are the prices you're used to, don't ever tome to the sprint car races in CA. $4-6 beers are routine and the food prices are generally high as well. It'd be great if they were cheaper but out here the higher prices are routine.

The concessions aren't run by Emmett and Lanny and they have no say on setting prices ... blame the Expo Center management for the high prices.

This is a problem at most tracks everywhere excluding PA tracks as they run the concessions themselves at most of the tracks their . Not only are the prices terrible , so is the concession food every where including NASCAR tracks where they have dirt tracks . It 's time that track managements get more involved to improve the concession food and prices .
But yet the quote everywhere is " WE CARE ABOUT THE FANS " I don't know about you fans , but it 's time they do something to show they really care about fans , don't you think .

Arbys is just down the street on the corner. Get five and put 'em in your coat pockets and you're good for the Saturday marathon...

I never saw the beer prices slow anyone down in my area...
In fact a moron a few rows in front of me stood and was yelling at the beer man for more beer just before the A-main restart with 2 laps to go. He could not wait 2 laps before getting another?
I slipped a few snacks in my jacket pockets during the week.

Blame society for paying the damn prices. If they would stop, you would see prices roll back some. Until then, its what we as a society will be willing to pay.

Any pro or college sports event has jacked up concession prices for what usually amounts to crappy/average food. You & I can count on one hand the exceptions and have fingers left over.
The promoter has a captive audience. They know you typically would not go out to eat and THEN go to the event. Some do... most don't. They know you're going to pay what they want or starve. They don't try harder because they don't have to.
Most restaurants (outside of tracks or sporting arenas) fail... it's a fact. Reading this message board... apparently most promoters have enough trouble doing any actual promotion let alone serve good food at good prices.
The tracks are open way fewer days a week than a restaurant is... so their profit margins can't be as "low" as a normal restaurant.
Acting surprised that a sporting event has high concession prices... that concept is hardly revelutionary. I see quite a variety of events (MLB, NFL, NHL, minor league baseball & hockey, etc.) in a year and none in the DFW area are cheap. I can't see how the DFW area is any different than anywhere else.

Others than soft serve ice cream for $5 which I broke down and bought Friday night, we bought no concessions there all week. 16 oz sodas and bottled water for $3.75?? Its not that most cannot afford it, its just the principle of the deal. The people next to us stated they attended the Shootout and that prices for many items had been marked up for the Chili Bowl. Pretty sorry deal if that's true.

Buy yerself a cooler, make some sammiches get a 12 pack of water from Walmart, leave it in the car go eat when there is a break and you are SET!
At all sporting events the food and drink prices are high, like someone said if society is willing to pay the price then the prices will increase.

Worse than the prices is the quality of the food that the Expo center offers. I don't mind paying $8 for a sandwhich, but that crap they serve isn't worth $2. Definately eat eslewhere, learned that a long time ago.

Some folks "in the know" go to the "Outback Tent" out back (East end of building) and get a full belly of great grub for $5. Those guys can cook!!

Hell yeah they were marked up. Hell they may have been marked up during the week lol.
I know I paid 4.50$ for one of those quesadillas at the Shootout - same quesadilla was 7.50$ at the Chili Bowl. Drink prices were nearly 1$ more average as well.
It is incredibly screwed up....but then you think....go to other sporting events and the prices are a full 2-3$ more than what we complain about as high at the chili bowl. But still - 3.75 for a 20 oz. bottle of water is screwed up.
There are plenty of places to eat in the area. I parked across the street sat. morning - went in and locked down my spot - then rolled east a mile or 2 to a Daylight Donuts....was very pleased lol. However, I will pay 5 bucks for the nachos. While in the pits a friend of mine comes up eating this bowl of nachos that looked very good - went back to the pit concession and got some - they were excellent. And unlike the rest of the food that you pay 7 bucks for and are hungry an hour afterwards - I don't think I was ever hungry again after 5pm lol (although I wont advise as to how you might feel the next day lol). Definitely won't complain about the cost/quality of those nachos lol
How much would could a wouldchuck chuck if a

Thats the sad thing about it. I know the concessions are run by the Expo and not Lanny. It would just be nice to go and watch the race and enjoy a beer or water and sandwich and not get ripped off over the deal. And the beer is 3.2 if not mistaken. Could be wrong. Hard to feed the kiddos on those prices, Im just saying.
