or could it be the dirt that was filled with rocks (who the hell inspected that pile???)...or the lack of cars on any week? I think the track had the lowest car count ever. If they paid the support classes more maybe they would have more cars. The purse has been the same (or increased due to the track getting sponsors for the sprint car class only) for the 410s yet the car count keeps dropping weekly....why not pay the other classes a little more and try to get more cars???
The wingless and modifieds purse was cut because they were not getting 18 cars a week,.....when the sprint cars had 12 or 14 cars week after week they still got the same.
Treat all the support classes like crap and thats how you get treated back=no cars. People complained all year about the officiating and blatant bad calls by CERTAIN officials yet nothing changed...after awhile people get tired of being kicked so they solve the problem...either quit racing or race elsewhere

CHICO, CA (1-11-11) The famed Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, California will be under new management in the coming weeks, announced Handy Racing Promotions Incorporated, who has operated the quarter-mile dirt track for the last two years at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds. At this time Alan Handy and is his staff wish to officially welcome Gage Motorsports to the front office of the track at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds that is home to the annual Gold Cup Race of Champions.
Gage Motorsports is no stranger to Silver Dollar Speedway. The firm is owned and operated by longtime motor sports professional Dennis Gage and Sandy Lawston. For decades, Gage worked on staff at Silver Dollar Speedway as the longtime track announcer and managed the media relations for the track during his reign. In recent years Gage has managed the operations of the successful All American Speedway in Roseville for the Placer County Fair. Now, he returns to the track he called home for so many years as the new track promoter following a recent agreement with Handy to take over the facility.
"When it comes to the future of Silver Dollar Speedway I can't think of anyone better to take over this racetrack than Dennis Gage," said Alan Handy, who will now focus strictly on managing the longtime successful Placerville Speedway and the traveling Civil War Series. "Dennis has a great knowledge of Silver Dollar Speedway and the community around it. His relationships in the sport and success will be good for Chico and I am wishing him the best as he takes on this venture."
In the coming days Gage will issue his first media release detailing the plans for the future at Silver Dollar Speedway. The new management group will maintain the 2011 race schedule set forth by Handy last week and will honor all previous advance ticket sales for the 2011 Gold Cup Race of Champions in September. The new season will begin at Silver Dollar Speedway on March 11 with the Mini Gold Cup, featuring the World of Outlaws and the USAC Western Classic Series Sprint Cars prior to the opening of the 2011 championship season.
As Handy passes the torch of this famed facility to it's new promoter there are countless individuals to thank for their support and gratitude through the years. There is great appreciation for the many fans, race teams, sponsors and the Silver Dollar Fair that showed their support through the years along with a very dedicated staff.
"There are so many people to thank for their support that we couldn't possibly begin to list them all," added Handy. "We've had a great group of sponsors, incredible fans and some of the most dedicated drivers in all of our divisions. I hope all of these individuals will continue to support Silver Dollar Speedway in new times. I really have to thank my own dedicated staff over the last couple of years with their relentless dedication to this speedway."
At this time, Silver Dollar Speedway will continue to be found online at www.silverdollarspeedway.com as the transition begins between Handy and Gage. The track mailing address will be 2343 Fair Street, Chico, CA 95928. The track phone line will remain 530-891-6535. The phone number for the business office of Silver Dollar Speedway is 530-350-7275. Fax number is 530-350-7448. The email for Silver Dollar Speedway is: [email protected]
"This isn't a negative thing, it's a positive thing for Silver Dollar Speedway," added Handy. "I hope everyone who hung in there and supported our efforts will do so with Dennis and Sandy. We are all race fans in this business, you have to be, we want to work together to do whatever is best for the sport. We welcome this change with open arms."

I find it odd that the announcement would come from another website before they post it on their own

Alrighty then......thats what I heard, but was "sworn to secrecy" and didn't let the cat out of the bag. I like Dennis Gage and I'm sure he will do a great job, I mean he can't do any worse than Allan right? Idk...hope we get to see some good racing this year at the Dollar.
The older I get, the faster I used to be.

I think his dad would still have it if SDS was a money maker. fans see cars and purses. promoter's see bottom lines. Alan has a money maker in P'ville and cut losses in my opiniion. Right now Dennis inherits a 410 weekly show and a gold cup. Alan has civil war and P'ville and no more money dump in SDS. good luck to Dennins and hope he can turn it around but this was good business from alan with an easy call. i'll still be there in the stands at SDS reguardless of who is running the show.
