I really struggled with this also until my great niece suggested that I first post them on PhotoBucket. (You can either keep your photos there private or share them, the choice is yours.)
Once you have posted them on PhotoBucket, you can open them, copy them, and then paste them into your post. This requires that you have 2 Internet Explorer windows open, one for PhotoBucket and the other for this site.
After trying at least a dozen different ways, this is the only method I could get to work.
Best of luck, I can appreciate your difficulties as I struggled with this for the better part of 2 days before my great niece came to the rescue. Ah, the techie, younger generation!

I maybe able to help. I have posted tons of photos here and this is the Quickest and works Best for here. It must be it's the one they set up for this site by giving you the option. The photobucket is great too for other message boards that don't have this option.
Instead of having to bounce between two dif. browers you can click the image tab (the square box with mountain and Sun) where you type your posts.
A remote file explorer will open. Click Browse in the remote file explorer and select the folder you keep your photos in. Choose the photo you want to share....
Now your remote file explorer will pop back up. In the bottom right hand corner you will see an upload tab. Click it to upload the photo into the remote file explorer. Once that is done Highlight you photo.
Now in the bottom right hand corner of your remote file explorer where the upload tab was is now an insert tab. Hit insert and photo is posted.

It is pretty self explanatory after you hit the image tab.....Hope this helps

Slink51 -
Every time I try to use your method, it uploads the name and format of the picture, but does not show the photo itself. Instead, what I get is a "photo box" with a red X in it. Any suggestions in this regard?
P.S. I also discovered your method won't work with MSN Explorer, as the remote server window is not large enough to see (or obviously choose) the browse, upload, or cancel buttons at the bottom of the window, and there is seemingly no way to make this window larger.
It was only after changing to Internet Explorer that I could see these options in the remote server window, but again, now all I can get is a photo box with a red x in it.
Thanks for any additional help you or anyone else can give in this regard.

I also have MSN if you run your mouse over the bottom of the box it will show what the bottons are.
The second one from the left is brows, second from the right is insert.
I can't get any to down load ether my files are to big. File must be smaller than 1024k bits.

My files are smaller than that, but still no luck.
I think I'm destined to do it the slow cut and paste way.

EUREKA!
I finally found a way to make the process somewhat shorter and easier.
I discovered that if I go to the file where my photos are located and select a photo I can then right click on the photo and under "Properties" click the option "Open With" and then choose Internet Explorer to open the photo. The photo will then open in an Internet Explorer window, at which point you can right click the photo, choose copy, and then paste directly into the post. This at least eliminates the step of having to first post them on PhotoBucket.
Hope this is of some help to someone else.

I just wish you could copy the photos in the Remote file explorer. My last computer crashed and I lost some photos, and they are in the remote file explorer. The problem is I CAN NOT figure out how to retrieve them to resave them on my new computer
