First Night Of World Series Round Washed Out
Author : Darren ODea

ROUND 10 of World Series Sprintcars at Titan Garages Brisbane International Speedway will now be a one-night deal on Saturday night after the event was washed out tonight.

While the rain held off for most of the day at the Archerfield venue it started to rain heavily as the cars completed wheel packing which put everything on hold for half an hour.

Eventually officials and drivers tried to wheel pack the track again after the rain stopped but it was still deemed too sloppy and racing was pushed back until tomorrow night.

World Series Sprintcars general manager Steven Green said more updates on the one-night racing format would be announced on Saturday.

Australian Sprintcar Open To Revert To A One Night Show
Jak posted Friday January 7, 2011.
After a brief but heavy downpour passed through the Archerfield area just prior to Time Trials earlier this evening, and despite the best efforts of drivers and the track crew to get the Speedway track surface back into a condition safe enough for racing, World Series Sprintcars and Brisbane International Speedway officials were left with no choice but to call a halt to proceedings and postpone the Titan Garages World Series Australian Sprintcar Open until tomorrow night, Saturday January 8.

The Open will now be a one night show and will follow the World Series Sprintcars format for a single night event. In the event of inclement weather affecting tomorrow night's racing, the event will then be held in its entirety or completed on Sunday night January 9. Monday night has also been put aside as a rain date if required.

General admission and pit tickets purchased at the track earlier today will be able to be used for admission to this event, as will tickets previously purchased for the postponed Capalaba Wreckers Sprintcar Cup event last Wednesday night, subject to ticket pricing variations.

Additional weather updates will be posted on the BIS website in the morning and during the day or alternatively, recorded weather and event information is available by calling the Speedway Infoline on (07) 3277 7745.
