This will be my first CB, and I'm taking my dad. He's not incapacitated but I'm afraid sitting all day Saturday will wear him out. I've heard that there may be an area to watch on a big screen if he needs a break from the bleachers. If so, can he take a lawn chair or something to relax a little? Any info will be greatly appreciated.

If as you stated this is your first Chili Bowl the Saturday night crowd can be a bit overwhelming. Dont hesitate to purchase a pit pass in addition to your ticket. The pits are a great place to stroll and relieve bleacher claustrophobia. There is usually a jumbo screen in the pits mounted against the back of the bleachers where many spend their evening(some in lawn chairs). Its a good place to watch the lineups roll up for the Saturday features which will start around noon and finish between ten and eleven. So tons of racing on Saturday but try to hang til the end, you wont be sorry.

The chili bowl is the bees knees if you ask me. There are well timed breaks throughout the event that allow you to get up and stretch the legs out. The pits are ok but if you already have seats then if you want you can always get up and stretch around during the alphabet features.
