This ones more for my local viewers. It is From The 1973 Salina Speedway Banquet. See how many you can get. It's a mixture of drivers and owners.

Are you 100% sure 12 is Alan Combs??? Cause I lost the list that came with the e-mailed photo. I believe your right on your other answers. Bob McCall called several years ago and identified them also.

He was in the top 10 in points that year so I would agree. No body else in the photo looks like him. Thanks I did this back in the very early days of the site.

I lived in Salina from 74-79 and worked with Dave Oltman and Dick Jennings. Lived across the street from Bill Sidles(Bills Speed Shop) who was Oltman's brother in law, and down the street from Harold Loeff. Hard to believe there isn't a Dauer, Brittendal, or Fuller in this picture.

I think the cat standing to the left of Potts was his long time mechanic. He called him DOC !! No Marvin Bradford either. And Combs is not in the picture. >>>>.

In the 1973 Salina Speedway Banquet picture number 14 is Mike Desaire and number 15 is Steve Ohlert. I have several pictures. Mike was the 1973 Hobby stock 6 cylinder Champion and Steve was second. Let me if you would be interested in any of the other photos. Marty Desaire

I'm trying to picture the #14 and I do remember the name. He didn't race very many years after that year if I remember right. Seems like the #14 was a 49/50 Ford? Kind of channeled down customized radically. I'm probably wrong on the year and car but I think it was different looking that the rest of the field?

Mike drove a 55 Ford from the opening of the racetrack untill the spring of 73. The car that was supposed to belong to my brother and I was a 54 Chevy 2 door. but my dad let Mike drive it instead after the 55 Ford wore out. Steve Ohlert had the 50 Ford car. In 1973 Mike won 23 or 24 feature races and 23 or 24 trophy dashes at Salina , Hutchinson, Great Bend and Chase. The car was built by all of us, Don, Rich, Mike, Leland, and myself. Leo Desaire owned it. At the time he never had more than $500.00 dollars in it. It was built by using scrap parts. Mike was killed in a car accident in Arizona several years ago. Steve Ohlert passed away several years also.
