Does anyone remember seeing a double deck sprint car trailer? I believe it was the Parkinsons that came to a show out at the little track at Topeka one night with a trailer loaded with one car on top of the other one. They were late and the last heat was just getting pushed off. They unloaded both cars and got out on the track (cold oil and all) and took the green. I do not remember having to wait or the show being held up much to get this done.

I also remember a school bus made into a flat bed and then it pulled a trailer. I believe they pulled the 7 and 7s from Illinois. I may have all the details wrong. The sprint cars were both red and yellow.
But I do remember a double-decker trailer somewhere.

The double deck your thinking of was Jack Potter's of Kansas City. Jack's son Jerry's #33 and nephew Kenny's#34 were hauled on the double decker and Kelly's #32 was pulled on their single trailer.

Not only do I remember this setup, I took a photo of them. Curt was right I think because #33 is the car on the top. These were called modified-sportsmans. They were limited to 305 cubic inches. I think the picture was taken in 1972 or 73.

Topeka Raceway. It looks like they ran carbs?? Maybe this clas conformed more to the western half of Kansas and Oklahoma. Was it a open wheel base or what was the wheel base?

They ran it as Jalopys, flatheads and overhead sixes, overhead V-8s Limited to 305 cubic inches and a single 500 cfm carb. no duel carbs on any engine. No set wheelbase.

Found a rule book for Shawnee Speedway/Topeka Raceway. The small track east of town. The only change not listed was that 305 cubic inches was the limit. In 1969 or seventy you were allowed to have non car factory frames. here are a few pages of the book.

In the 70's where did you race those, Garden City? I went to a track in Garden City in the very late 70's in October. A Tulsa teenager named Johnny Pickle won that night. He was in a mini sprint though.

I believe it was in 72 and/or 73 as I sold it in 74 to someone in Garden City. I recently married and we decided to sell it to pay for the birth of our son Jared. LOL. We ran a 50 HP JLO snowmobile engine. Fan cooled. Last I hear it sold on Ebay. It originally had a alky burning 2 cyl water cooled German boat racing motor but was shot. I wouldn't mind finding the car and restoring it. We installed a MarGay quick change gearbox. I have a spare with a couple gear sets I am willing to sell. I emailed the son of the guy at MarGay who designed them and he said there are a few collectors and kart restorers looking for them. My dad (Vernon Schrater) did the major work on the car including building the roll cage and many other successful features. It was remodeled quite a bit after we bought it from Maupin. Cecil bought the other from Maupin also. I lucked out and got the trailer. Its interesting as my dad bought 24 (raffle coup) from Maupin also. Attached is a photo before rebuild and the guys at the banquet. There were several very nice cars that raced there and a great bunch of guys to race with. The track was just East of Garden City.
