Hi Guys
I am hoping you could give some advice - I am planning to take a gap year from work next year and hope to come to States for a month, August, September time. I would like to see as much good racing as possible in that 30 day window - as many different tracks as possible, sensible travelling O.K., in the past I have done the Pennsylvania Speedweek and the Knoxville Nationals, so what to do this time - are there any speedweeks or tours in August/September - or a least some midweek racing to go with the weekend shows. - not limited to sprint cars.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Mike

Maybe you can come in July...do the Indiana Speedweek....it's 8 nights of racing over two weeks.
And there is a lot of other racing in Indiana if you want to make a full month of it. And Eldora is not that far away from Indiana....
Chuck.....

You'd be hard pressed to beat Indiana if your a race fan. Your biggest problem would be choosing which track to go to....not a bad problem to have!!
Enjoy.

I hope to do the States in July 2012 - my gap year runs from Aug 2011 to Aug 2012 (if the world has not ended). Planning to do Australia and NZ between November and March, - following the WSS and cheering on the British lads in NZ in Feb 2012.
I note that most tracks have not put out their 2011 Schedule yet so maybe this is a little premature.
Cheers

POWRI midgets have a speed week the first week in August with the Belleville Midget nationals being the anchor. Races are held in Kansas/missouri/nebraska

I know there is a strong anti-Late Model sentiment on this board from people that only like Sprint Car racing, but I agree completely about the World 100. IMO, there is not another dirt track race out there that compares with the World atmosphere wise.

If you could make it over in June, I'd check out Ind. Midget Week. 5 straight nights of USAC midgets with the local 410 wingless sprint programs as the support class. I'm gonna try to hit a few nights of it next year.

Hey Mike,
What is this "gap year" you speak of?
Over here, that sounds a lot like "quitting your job".

If you're going to be here Sept 2-10, you can follow the Outlaws down the west Coast. Start at Skagit for 2 days, on to Cottage Grove Oregon on Labor Day, and go to the Gold Cup in Chico for 4 days (2 Outlaw shows). Cool trip, awesome scenery, great way to see part of the West Coast.

Bit of an update
Firstly - thanks for all the replies and avice - paticularly the web links - makes things a lot easier.
It is a bit like "quitting your job" - inso much as - I am quitting my job!! - however will return to work in one capacity or another in a year.
Look as if my plans are to be in the states from 3rd August to 30th August - so it looks like Knoxville for the first couple of weekends and then anywhere within about 1000 miles of Chicago for the next couple of weeks.
Cheeers

I'm making progress on my annual Google calendar with every major sprint car date. Hopefully this will help some people out with their travel plans for this season:

The link works - thanks very much.
The link I can not get to work is the openwheeltimes link - is anyone else having trouble.
Managed to get some semblance of a plan put together hope to see about 20 meetings in 28 days, Mondays and Tuesdays being the open dates but working on it. Highlights being the Midget Nationals and the Knoxville nationals.
Cheers
Mike
