Ralph Parkinson Sr passed away yesterday evening after fighting the brave battle with cancer.

He served with the US navy during World War II, had 2 sons, and became a racing Legend as well as being in 4 Halls of Fame, with the biggest one to come.

services pending

This tribute was inspired and commissioned by Mike Monatoboy who grew up watching Ralph and Gilbert Hutson duel at Lawton Speedway in the 1960's.

Ralph was a real gentleman, they just weren't made any better. Anyone that met him is better for the experiance. Condolences go out to his family.

Bob,

When I got your book "High Plains Thunder" from Knoxville, it reopened all of this for me at a time I really needed it. I had an old super (body and frame only) in the building that I was going to lose in a divorce. (Not because of your book).

But in the course of time I built another car, then went to meet Lloyd Ruby, and eventually Ralph Parkinson Sr. Lloyd made sure he was sitting beside him when we had a reunion down there in 2007. We talked about the Ed Silk midget roadster Ralph drove from '58-'61. Great guy he was, and have been an admirer of his since.

Thank you for the push from what you do.

Great picture show and music. That first picture, as well as others, tells you how brave these guys were. Good grief, half their body was sticking out above the gas tank. Didn't know Ralph Parkinson Sr, but he's in racer heaven now.

Lawlessness and liberalism equals Hell. NY City,
Detroit, Seattle, Chicago, Minnepolis, etc. We saw it.
Burning hundreds of buildings, a thousand assaults and
dozens of murders. Getting worser and worser.
